Top British Designer Alexander McQueen is Found Dead

The fashion industry was in shock yesterday at the tragic news of the death of one of Britain’s top fashion designers Alexander McQueen who was found dead at his home in London on Thursday 11th February 2010.  Lee Alexander McQueen’s death comes just 9 days after the death of his mother which he announced via his own twitter page on 3rd February.  It has been suggested that Mr McQueen was found hanged, but police are not yet treating his death as suspicious.  Alexander McQueen had previously won the British Designer of the Year award a total of four times for the unconventional designs and shock tactics he used in his work.

The news was broken by his own design company with the following quote on the official Alexander McQueen website: -

“On behalf of Lee McQueen’s family, Alexander McQueen today announces the tragic news that Lee McQueen, the founder and designer of the Alexander McQueen brand has been found dead at his home. At this stage it is inappropriate to comment on this tragic news beyond saying that we are devastated and are sharing a sense of shock and grief with Lee’s family”.
