With all the hoohah which surrounds Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho, you may think glasses might need to be called upon. After all, the Portuguese man in charge at Stamford Bridge has lost the plot as well as possibly his eyesight. Since the start of the Premier League season and that incident involving former Blues medic Eva Carneiro, Mourinho has been walking a footballing tightrope.

Call it refereeing decisions or simply a lack of form, Mourinho has called out many referees. He feels they have literally been short sighted when it comes to key decisions. For example, one key incident took place when Chelsea played Southampton last month. Having had a penalty turned down, Mourinho lambasted the man in the middle.

In addition to this, the game at West Ham United saw the Special One sent to the stands. This happened after a stern disagreement with referee Jon Moss. The result was yet another defeat with Chelsea losing by two goals to one after a late header by Andy Carroll. Yet, as far as the world of football is concerned, there are many glasses wearers to boot!

Former England boss Fabio Cappello has been an avid fan of specs for many years. The Italian taskmaster has been known for donning the odd pair during his time at AC Milan. The makers of his particular eyewear are an Italian company known as ZeroRH+. Although during his spell with England he wasn’t popular for his rigid tactics, it is off the pitch where Capello is making an impression.

The former Russia boss has a number of different styles but he is most famous for wearing a classic black Andro pair. In fact he was sporting them at the 2010 FIFA World Cup. If you want a pizza the action and obtain the Capello look, check out these fabulous pair of Oakley Servo glasses.

However, eyewear is not necessarily worn by high profile managers. Players too want to make a spectacle of themselves. You’ll be hit for six when you see which iconic footballers wear glasses.

Brazilian by name and Brazilian by nature. The artist known as Ricardo Izecson dos Santos Leite or Kaka has lit up the soccer scene. This naturally gifted playmaker was firm fixture in the Brazilian team, whilst playing for major sides. This includes Real Madrid not to mention AC Milan. Kaka too has walked the walk on the pitch and picked up both the Champions League and World Cup. But there’s a secret hiding. Whilst the skilful South American had an eye for a pass, he tends to wear thin rimmed glasses off the pitch and even modelled for Emporio Armani’s eyewear collection in 2009.

Now our next contender is a little bit more unique. This is largely in part thanks to a glaucoma condition. Former Dutch international Edgar Davids was a no nonsense tough tackling midfielder. Having played for AC Milan and Tottenham Hotspur among other teams, there is no surprise he was nicknamed, “The Pitbull”. This terrier like player never knew when to give up. However, due to vision problems, Davids had no choice but to play in protective glasses during his playing days. Mind you, no one would be able to come up to him with his menacing look and iconic dreads that would even make Bob Marley cry.
