AW15/16 Style Trends: 4 Spectacle Styles to Try this Season

Essentially, there are two types of spectacle wearers in the world. There are those who live by an exacting style formula and they remain loyal to the first frames they fell in love with; these people have likely found “the one”. Then there are those who float from frame to frame, always with an open mind and always on the lookout for new adventures; these people have not likely found “the one” and will spend the majority of their lives searching.

But before you shed a tear for people of the latter, just remember that there are plenty of frames in the sea. And each season, we get to delight in fantastic new style trends.

For Autumn/Winter, the pickings are far from slim and we learned this way back in February when LFW revealed the hottest fashion trends for AW15. Here at SelectSpecs, we’re always pretty stoked to see the catwalks give a nod to the glasses and sunglasses industry. Designers such as Burberry and Miu Miu certainly did not disappoint so if you’re the second type of spectacle wearer, it’s time to get back out there. The trends are waiting!

Here are 4 AW15/16 spectacle style trends you just have to try this season!

1) Cat-Eye Glasses

Cat-eyes have become a season regular. And we have Miu Miu to thank for these gorgeously feminine frames. Miuccia Prada’s AW15 campaign was a sensation and stormed the fashion world with nostalgic shots from what appeared to be a fairytale 60s-depicted New York.

Every single model was adorned with a show-stopping pair of frames and we couldn’t help but fall in love with the sexy cat-eye styles which screamed “look at me”. Our current favourites are the Miu Miu MU 03LV Cat’s Eye Style glasses which have that vintage-inspired lucite look.

2) Full Round Frames

Round frames aren’t for everyone. You see, they’re quite hard to handle and they’re a tough cookie to crack when it comes to match-making. But don’t let that put you off; find the right one and it could be a match made in heaven! Chloe has penetrated the tough hearts of discerning fashion bloggers and is now a fash blogger fave. If you want to dip your toe in this blogger-approved trend, we would recommend the Chloe CE114S sunglasses. They’re perfect for all-year round wear.

3) Classic Black

Remember when ‘geek chic’ first happened? Yep, we sure do. It was over ten years ago (*gasp*) when this phenomenon descended on the fashion world and it seems the round black frames never really left our lives. But for AW15, they’re back and they’re back with a vengeance. Because amongst all these transparent lucite delights, there will always be room for the classic black. Black really is the new black apparently. Because Burberry says so.

And now you can steal actress (and Burberry campaign goddess) Clara Paget’s style with our Burberry BE2145 black-framed specs.

4) Preppy Specs

You could almost coin it a spin-off from the geek chic effect. But we assure you, this trend has legs of its own. And we’re talking lots of legs strutting down the catwalks of Gucci, Prada, Bally and Peter Pilotto teaming together preppy pussy bow blouses with mumsy tweed and sensible Mary-Janes. All finished off with a studious pair of specs! It’s Zooey Deschanel crossed with Margot Tenenbaum. If you ask us, good girls have never looked so darn good.

If you want to drop that bad girl attitude and turn a new leaf, do it with our librarian-inspired Gucci GG 3747 glasses and let the inner preppy shine through.
