Festival Style Files: Sunglasses from Parklife 2016

sunglasses parklife 2016

Parklife 2016 has just been and gone and with two days of rain and mud, the music fans of Great Britain have once again proved that shades aren’t just for dry weather.

Even when it’s raining and pouring, sunglasses are still a festival must-have. And in my mind, they are necessary for four reasons; 1) To look damn cool, 2) To protect your eyes from invisible UV rays, 3) To keep your eyes shaded from horizontal rain and up-splash of mud from your wellies, and 4) To hide your bags when you wake up the next morning. So all in all, sunglasses are multi-taskers ansd that’s why we love them all year round here at Select Specs.

They can’t be forgotten even when it’s chucking down cats ‘n’ dogs! And for our love of muddy adventures, we’ve been to Parklife to check out the latest trends in festival specs and we bring you the latest report on what’s hot for the festivals of SS16.

Look #1) Mirrored Sunglasses

Mirrored sunnies are simply everywhere! And they were a firm favourite, especially with the female crowd this year at Parklife. They were pretty popular last year but it seems that for SS16, the trend has evolved to include every shape, every design, every lens size, and every colour combination so there’ll be plenty of styles to choose from if you want to rock this trend.

Mirrored sunglasses not only help to reflect light away from your eyes to improve your vision when you’re exposed to the sun, but they also add a funky edge to your festival outfit too – come rain or shine!

Here are some of our favourite looks which we spotted at Heaton Park over the wet weekend…

Look #2) The Classic Wayfarer

Wayfarers are complete classics and they are available at every budget – from our £10.00 Savannah S8122 shades (can you believe the price?!) to our more expensive RB2132 Ray-Ban sunglasses which are best sellers online. (See both styles below).

The wayfarer look has long been a popular choice for festivals, music events, gigs and raves and it’s become a pretty symbolic style for the genre of dance music. This style of sunglasses can easily suit most face shapes on both men and women too, so they’re probably amongst the most versatile of festival sunglasses.

Easy to style and comfortable to wear, it’s no wonder that wayfarer sunnies have remained a favourite for Parklife festival goers. Here’s a look at some of the stylish wayfarer wearers of 2016:

Look #3) 90s Round Sunglasses

One of the hottest looks of the moment is the 90s round sunglasses look. And this style is ever so fitting for a festival like Parklife which celebrates dance music, house and techno, electronic music, alternative and underground music.

90s rave is a look which has come back and it’s stronger than ever. And the round lens sunglasses trend is all the rage right now.

Style with an old school 90s choker, cute 90s hair and some classic 90s denim for a chic festival finish. Here are some of our favourite looks from Parklife to give you style inspo:
