Trends come and go, but classic style is timeless. While luxe brand Prada are often known for their unique and eccentric eyewear designs, they’ve gone back to basics for their SS16 men’s eyewear campaign.
This week, the famous fashion house released their advertising images for the spring/summer season, starring rising actors Matthew Beard, Billy Howle and Logan Lerman. The images were photographed by Craig McDean in a New York nightclub, creating a dramatic canvas for the stylish frames. The men can be seen wearing sharp tailored suits and jackets against a range of bold, graphic backdrops.
The simple photoshoot was the perfect way to show off the new designs from Prada. From sophisticated shades to optical frames, the new collection is all about cool and contemporary looks combined with easy-to-wear simplicity.

Sleek Shades
Forget quirky designs and fad shapes; Prada’s new eyewear campaign focuses on simple sunglasses styles. In Prada’s own words, “an essential elegance enhanced by a clear-cut design and exclusive details.”
Modelled by American actor Logan Lerman, this new pair of shades features rectangular frames in classic black for a masculine feel.

The second pair of shades featured in the Prada men’s campaign are these sleek and stylish frames modelled by Matthew Beard. According to Prada, these sophisticated sunglasses “embodying the attitude of the #PradaSS16 men’s eyewear collection in a contemporary style.”
They feature a similar look to the first pair of shades, with clean-cut black frames and a simple square shape. A metal finish gives them a modern twist on a classic design.
While these styles aren’t yet available at SelectSpecs, you can get the look for SS16 with the Prada PR 03RS sunglasses. Finished in black acetate with silver metal detail, they feature the same contemporary style as featured in Prada’s SS16 campaign.

As well as showcasing their latest sunglasses designs, Prada featured a frame from their optical eyewear collection, proving that prescription glasses are a super-suave accessory for modern men.
Logan Lerman modeled a pair of classic retro-inspired glasses which added a highbrow look to his suit-and-tie ensemble. Round frames give them a subtle vintage vibe while an uncomplicated finish keep them up-to-date. As Prada puts it, they blend “retro notes with modern elements”.
