Eye Testing and Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT)
We have recently invested in a revolutionary piece of diagnostic equipment that can detect a number of key eye conditions, such as glaucoma, age related macular degeneration (AMD) and diabetic retinopathy during a routine eye test. This piece of equipment is called 3D Optical Coherence Tomography system (3D OCT).
What is OCT?
Optical Coherence Tomography is an advanced eye scan for people of all ages. Similar to ultrasound, OCT uses light rather than sound waves to illustrate the different layers that make up the back of the eye. During the 3D OCT scan a digital photograph of the rear surface of the eye is captured which can then be cross-referenced to any area of concern from the 3D scan.
What are the Benefits?
This state of the art machine allows your optometrist to see the back of your eye in a three dimensional image, enabling us to look beneath the surface of the regular retinal image. This method is the most advanced diagnostic tool available today, usually only available in specialist hospitals.
Using this machine, your optometrists can more confidently diagnose, manage and refer you to a specialist for further treatment should this be required.
The Most Advanced Eye Exam Available
We are striving to provide the best eyecare in the industry, for that reason, this state of the art diagnostic tool will be available to everyone for an additional charge, but the benefits are clear. With this advanced eye exam you can enjoy the piece of mind that comes from knowing that your eyes and health are in great hands.
