We all have at least one pair of jeans in our wardrobe. They are an easy go-to style staple, perfect for chucking on teamed with a t-shirt and some Converse, heels or flats.
But jeans can be so much more. Sometimes, we just need some inspiration from some celebrity fashion icons to help us get out of our denim-based rut to expand our style horizons.
Take a look at some of these celebrities rocking denim in their own, fabulous way.
Here, Fearne Cotton opted for an unconventional pair of jeans. She rocks these awesome frayed red Levi’s.
The oh-so-now three-quarter length is bang on trend too, and looks great teamed with those multi-colored hi-tops.
Lesson learnt from Fearne – don’t be afraid to wear denim in bright, stand-out colors.
Gigi Hadid is not one to shy away from some of the more alternative trends. Here, the American fashion model styles an over-sized ripped denim jacket with a Karl Lagerfeld t-shirt and leather trousers.
Gigi makes the outfit so much more flattering and feminine by cinching in the jacket with a wide striped belt on her waist and exposing one shoulder.
Down on paper, this outfit would sound a bit of a mess. But Gigi proves just how sexy and trendy a baggy denim jacket can look.
Selena Gomez proves that super distressed denim can be dressed up and look surprisingly smart with the right footwear and accessories.
She teams a black fitted top with chic black heels, allowing the jeans to be the stand-out piece in this outfit. The addition of a pendant necklace further feminizes the outfit.
Rosie Huntingdon-Whiteley adds interest to her denim with the use of floral embellishments on these cute shorts. The high waist and cut-off design looks fab teamed with a simple black tee and silver necklace.
Embellished denim is very much on trend at the moment, and can be seen on jeans, shorts, skirts and even jackets in all the shops.
The best way to style these pieces is to keep the rest of the outfit simple, otherwise your look can appear quite cluttered.
Miranda Kerr styles this gorgeous high-waisted a-line skirt with a cropped jumper, demonstrating just how denim can work in the warmer months.
The fact the skirt is fitted at the waist and flares out creates a feminine and elegant silhouette, which would look great teamed with sandals or even heels.

Don’t be afraid of double denim!
The favorite trend of the 90s, double denim has actually made a massive comeback in the fashion stakes. Whether you mix denim of the same shade or completely contrasting colors, this look is not only super easy to achieve but is actually really flattering too.
Keep footwear and accessories simple, preferably in different colors to the denim, otherwise the look will be incredibly overpowering.
