3 Beauty Benefits of Staying Hydrated

We all know and have been told for years about the benefits of drinking water. From eight glasses to two litres, there is lots of advice out there about the amount of water you should drink in a day.

But no matter how many experts and celebrities tell us to drink up, it can still be hard to get your daily quota in, especially if you’re not a huge fan of water.

By focusing on the results instead of the process, we can become more motivated to stay hydrated while looking after our bodies.

The Cut recently compiled a list of quotes from celebrities, who fully endorse drinking water:

Celebrities love water and swear by it as key to their health and beauty regimen. Thinking of the positive results and what I wanted to achieve by drinking more water, I researched the benefits of water on eyesight and general appearance and found the following three most compelling:

Whilst there is no clinical research to support the positive impact of drinking water on skin, it makes sense that as skin is made up of 64% water, the more regular your intake of water, the more frequently you will replenish that moisture in your skin and flush out toxins while reducing dryness.

Improved Eyesight

While you may not immediately think that water will have a positive impact on your eyes, Vision Express states:

“The eye is surrounded by fluid, which protects it by washing away debris and dust every time we blink. In order to maintain a healthy balance of fluid in the eye it is important to stay well hydrated. Drinking plenty of water can prevent both your body and your eyes from becoming dehydrated.”

It makes sense that the eyes rely on water to ensure they remain able to function. Water can also help reduce redness and puffiness, giving your eyes a more healthy look overall.

Shiny Nails

Soft or peeling nails can be a key indicator that your hydration levels are too low.

If you want strong nails that look manicured and healthy, then making sure you drink plenty of water will give your nails the moisture boost they need.

As a result of this research I realised exactly why celebrities are head over heels in love with water. Their career is often built on appearance, and it is important for them to look their best.

Water has a huge impact on how celebs manage their health, both on the inside and out. It has certainly made me focus more on ensuring I drink more water every day!

One key point to remember, is that there is a balance between drinking too little and too much water. So before you run to the tap and drink litres and litres of water, just be careful that you do not overdo it – 2 litres a day is perfect.
