Top 5 Ways To Decorate Your Uni Room

Whether you are heading to University for the first time this Autumn or simply returning for another year, making your university room feel a little more homely will be quite high on your priority list.

Halls of Residence can be incredibly boring and plain when you first move in, and can make the scary experience of going to University that little bit more daunting!

We have put together these top tips to help you decorate your room quickly and easily and with minimal expenditure.

1. Fairy Lights

Fairy lights are not allowed by all universities as some consider them a fire hazard, so make sure you check this before you buy.

Fairy lights are always super pretty and a fab way to add some extra cosiness and soft lighting to your room.

They are also really affordable.

Drape them around your mirror, on your headboard or over your bookshelf – get inventive!

2. Patterned Duvet & Pillow Cases

Don’t just simply buy a white or plain duvet cover, unless you are going for the minimal look.

Instead get a patterned and coloured duvet cover to instantly add some extra interest to your room and make it look more welcoming.

Your bed takes up a large part of your room so make sure it looks the part.

3. Add Cushions & A Throw

Don’t just stop at a nice duvet cover, make sure you get a few coloured and patterned scatter cushions to place on your bed.

Not only do they look gorgeous, they are super comfortable too.

A throw will also add some extra colour as well as keeping you warm in the chilly winter months.

4. Display Your Accessories

If you have lots of jewellery, sunglasses, and other accessories, make sure you put them on display!

They will add some extra colour and fun to your dorm room and will help you to personalize it whilst also being super practical.

You could get a pinboard and simply place some drawing pins into it to hold your pieces.

Prop this up on your desk or fasten it to your wall if you are allowed.

You could also get a strip of wood like above and decorate it, before screwing in some simple hooks.

Make sure you have some gorgeous sunglasses to show off and buy the Ray-Ban RB2132 – New Wayfarer.

These gorgeous classic sunglasses would look fab on a homemade jewellery display.

A door stop is a super easy way to add some fun to your room and are also really useful.

They are great especially in the first weeks of uni – having your door open is a great way to get to know your flatmates and to make new friends!

You could either buy an animal shaped one for some extra ‘cute’ factor, or you could even use an indoor plant and pot to hold your door back.

The choice is yours!

A colourful rug is sure to add some extra cosiness and fun to your bedroom!

They will hide ugly carpets and act as handy camouflage if you accidentally drop some food or makeup on the floor.

A great option is a rag rug like the one above – these are super colourful but incredibly cheap.

Have a look in IKEA or online for some fab options.
