Betsey Johnson is a designer who is unknown to many, but has so much creative talent, it’s extraordinary.
Hailing from Connecticut, Johnson is most recognized for her bold, extravagant, and unusual designs ranging from clothing and handbags to jewellery and homeware.
Starting her fashion career after her win at the Mademoiselle Guest Editor competition, she quickly became a designer for Paraphernalia: a New York based boutique.
She was able to open her own boutiques over time, as well as the launch of her independent fashion brand which originated in the late 70’s.
45 years later and the brand is still proving to be as popular as ever with regular catwalk shows and the launch of Betsey’s recent TV show named ‘XOX Betsey Johnson.’
We personally love her, and her amazing design imaginability, so therefore, lets have a look at some of the designer’s best work.
Fruity, but Fantastic
This is such a wacky, but incredible look from Betsey Johnson.
The bardot style neckline on this monochrome spotted dress brings a touch of modernity to an otherwise 50’s type ensemble.
The addition of this unusual, but awesome watermelon handbag adds a funky yet retro vibe to the look.
Another vintage inspired look from the designer, but with a spin on current trends.
The ditsy, feminine floral prints teamed with a bardot style neckline yet again gives the look a modern edge.
The magenta coloured tutu style skirt adds a real old-school feel complete with some matching strappy heels.

Stripes vs. Gingham
We can’t do a post about a designer without featuring Betsey Johnson herself.
Johnson is living it large in a casual slogan tee styled with some cool striped trousers and a vintage looking belt.
Red gingham strappy wedges make a great clashing print combo which we are absolutely loving.

Spots & Stripes
This look is just fabulous, isn’t it?
The combination of a neon pink sleeveless crop with some striped culottes is so in this season.
