The Best Homemade Hair & Face Masks

You don’t need to spend loads of money on expensive hair and face masks to achieve flawless skin and silky hair. You can easily whip up some masks at home using some of the basic ingredients which you will probably have in your cupboard.

We have put together some of the best hair and face mask recipes for you to give a go yourself.

1. Creamy Avocado Face Mask

This fabulous mask is perfect for those of you who have dry or sensitive skin.

Avocado isn’t just good for your insides, it is good for your outsides too.

It is super moisturizing and soothing – perfect for dry, flaky or inflamed skin.

You will need:

  • An avocado mashed up
  • Two teaspoons of honey
  • One tablespoon of plain yoghurt

Simply combine all the ingredients together in the bowl and apply to cleansed skin.

Leave on for 10 minutes and rinse off with warm water.

2. Oats & Banana Face Mask

Face food. This mask looks disgusting, but will seriously sooth any inflamed skin.

Oatmeal is known for its calming properties when it is applied to the skin, and will really soothe any sore patches on the face.

Banana is also really moisturizing.

The great thing about this mask is that it also has exfoliating properties – when you remove the mask make sure you really massage the oats into your skin to remove any dead skin cells.

  • One banana mashed
  • One teaspoon honey
  • 100g oats

Combine all into a bowl and leave on the face for 10 minutes.

3. Coconut Oil Hair Mask

Coconut oil is all the craze at the moment, and is being used for everything.

It is really popular for cooking, but did you know that is also makes a super simple hair mask?

  • 50mls of warmed coconut oil

And that’s it.

All you need to do is rub the oil throughout your hair, and then pop on a shower cap so that the oil really penetrates the hair shaft.

You could even pop it on before you go into the shower – the hot steamy atmosphere of the bathroom will make it work even better.

Leave on for a maximum of 15 minutes.

This is apparently a mask which YouTuber Amelia Liana uses (below right).

4. Honey, Yoghurt & Olive Oil Hair Mask

This is a great mask to really soften and moisturize your hair.

All of these ingredients are incredibly nourishing and will help you get rid of any dry ends.

  • 2 teaspoons of honey
  • 1 tablespoon of yoghurt
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

Combine all these ingredients together and apply to your hair, focusing on the ends and any dry patches.

Leave for 15 minutes before rinsing off.

5. Egg White Face Mask

Egg white has plenty of great properties for your skin.

It is very high in protein and calcium, as well as potassium which is really moisturizing.

Magnesium is also great for making your skin glow.

The honey in this mask is moisturising and also has antibacterial properties.

The lemon juice is an astringent which will help clear any spots.

  • Egg white from one egg
  • One teaspoon lemon juice
  • One teaspoon of honey

Simply whisk together and apply for ten minutes.
