How To Style Sheer Clothing

One of the key trends for 2017, sheer fabric has been seen all over the catwalks. Sheer dresses, tops, and cover-ups are pretty, glamorous and feminine. But, they’re definitely not the easiest to wear.

We have put together some of the best outfits from Instagram to give you some ideas on how to style this tricky trend.

@Ragpepper

This sheer black maxi cover-up is absolutely stunning, and really makes this outfit something special.

Amber wears some denim mini shorts and teams them with another key trend: a lemon print cropped top.

The white heels contrast beautifully with the black fabric, whilst the yellow handbag offers a pop of colour and prevents the outfit from being too dark.

@Evelina

An easy way to wear sheer fabric is with a maxi dress such as this gorgeous bejeweled look here.

This would be a fantastic option for a smart evening out or for a date night.

The dress features a black slip underneath which prevents the outfit from being too revealing.

Style this look with some gorgeous oversized sunglasses such as the ones Evelina wears here.

The Chloe CE114S offer some stunning oversized round frames, brown lenses and gold detailing.

They are also available in nine other colours.

You could also go lacey like this beautiful dress Fleur is wearing here.

Sheer lace is absolutely stunning and will make any outfit a little bit special.

This lemon coloured dress would be perfect for a wedding or special day event.

Wear some sheer black lace for evening drinks and dinner.

Why not team a sheer blouse with some smart jeans or trousers like Sophie here?

This floral print blouse is so pretty and unique.

The red sunglasses and handbag really emphasize the print.

To prevent the blouse from being too revealing, make like Sophie and team it with a black bralette underneath.

Steal her sunglasses look with the retro style Dolce & Gabbana DG6110.

These stunning sunnies feature a feminine cat-eye shape in a beautiful bold red colour.

Red not your thing? Why not try one of the four other colours?

@Josieldn

This look is a gorgeous subtle way to get into the sheer trend.

Josie wears a Victoriana-style, embellished floral dress which features gorgeous sheer sleeves and neckline.

By keeping the sleeves long and the neckline high, it stops the sheer fabric from being too revealing.

@Ergonaut_clothing

This would be a gorgeous look for the office.

By teaming the long sheer skirt with a shirt dress, it creates a pretty yet professional look.

The skirt also cinches in at the waist, creating a feminine and flattering shape.

@Cocoandlita

Why not inject some colour into your sheer outfit too?

Sheer fabric isn’t all black and white, as this pretty floral embellished maxi dress shows.

With a look like this, it is best to keep accessories simple and to a minimum, to prevent the outfit from being too busy.
