Fashion houses have collaborated with other figures in the arts and entertainment industry for years now. All in the spirit of creating special master pieces that many fashion enthusiasts find hard to resist. In other words, they’re always teaming up with others, trying to find new ways to expand their creativity – increasing profits and making headlines in the process. In this day and age, the influence that social media has on us makes it even more likely to get more publicity.
Which is exactly what Louis Vuitton are up to now with their collaboration with pop culture artist Jeff Koons.
The French fashion powerhouse are widely known for collaborating with talented artists – who can forget Stephen Sprouse?
Now they’ve certainly raised the fashion stakes with what they have in store from April 28th.
The brand recently announced the collection in a series of news and magazine press conferences, and took to Instagram to post a short clip of the ‘Masters’ film, revealing their up and coming launch of a covetable new collection of bags.
Ending their teasing countdown of what’s to come, the clip cleverly features the world-known paintings in moving form. Which in itself is a piece of art.
The Award-winning American artist has had a series of ground breaking artworks under his belt. Widely known for his sculpture of ordinary objects – think BMWs with pop art and stainless steel balloon animals with mirror finished surfaces.
Not to mention the front cover he created for Lady Gaga’s ARTPOP album. Time after time he’s gone down a different path. A path that follows the legacy of the best artists in history, so to speak.
He’s incorporated his critically acclaimed ‘Gazing Ball’ series onto the brand’s most iconic bags – like the ‘Speedy’ and ‘Neverfull’- by hand painting reproductions of legendary paintings from Da Vinci’s, Van Gogh, Titians and Rubens.
During an interview with the Louis Vuitton, the artist stated that he’s simply celebrating those who have lived before us.
And he ‘hopes whoever is carrying this bag is celebrating humanity’ along with him. You can watch the full interview here.
