If you scroll through your Instagram feed, you will spy a myriad of attractive females sporting fake specs. However, these chicks don’t have poor eyesight, they are simply wearing glasses as an accessory.
Seeing that glasses are the next must-have item, we wanted to know: how do you coordinate your contouring with your specs?
Anyone who medically needs to wear glasses will know the specialised makeup techniques to match your lenses, and if not, here’s how!
Get glam with opticals, because no one wants their frames to take over their face.
1. Bye Bye Sweaty Betty
We’re talking about that annoying nose sweat which appears approximately one hour after applying your make-up (right on the bridge of your nose).
You look like you’ve spent the morning at an illegal underground rave, when in fact, your glasses have just caused sweat patches in unlikely places. To avoid this (because rave sweat definitely isn’t a trend); use Urban Decay setting spray right after make-up application. This will keep everything firmly in place.
It’s also a good shout to keep blotting papers in your bag for day sweat. NYX do some great ones which don’t cost the earth.
2. Lashed out
False lashes add a dash of glam to your look, but if you want to wear them with glasses you must pick the correct style.
To avoid looking (and feeling) like a camel with lashes that would sweep the Sahara sand from your eyes, stay away from longer styles. They will only rub against your lenses and irritate the hell out of you.
Mink lashes have a natural feel and cater to day and night looks.
3. Contour and Conquer
A trend that has taken the world by storm in the past year – you either love it or hate it.
Moreover, you must remember that glasses can be rather obtrusive if you want your face to stand out.
If you can’t stand or have no clue how to contour, start by practising drawing on your cheekbones. Even a light contour will ensure your frames don’t dominate your face. Plus you will look like editorial model material – and who wouldn’t want that!?
4. Go For Bold
You can often get away with bolder make-up looks if you wear glasses, without them the look can be a bit too much.
If you look a tad tarty, add glasses and et voila – sexy secretary.
Aside from this, you should try to draw attention away from your specs, and a bold lip is perfect for this. Red is always a winning choice, and suits everyone.
5. Frame Shapes
The key to correctly framing your face, is pretty self-explanatory. You will need a lens that compliments your face shape.
Square rims will help rounder faces to appear more defined. Try the “JIMMY CHOO JC41” style below.
If your face is square shaped, opt for round rims in thinner styles. The “Celine CL 41348” glasses will be the choice for you.
If you have an oval-shaped face, you can choose bolder styles and patterned rims. Go for the “Savannah P2395 – Demi” lenses.
