How To Mix & Match Prints

One of the hottest trends for 2017, all the runways are full of models styling various ‘mix and match’ outfits. This trend used to be just for the very brave, but now even the most fashion shy can pull off this bold look.

The great thing about this trend is that you can be as statement or minimalist with it as you want.

Keep reading to see some of our favourite looks from Instagram rocking this mix and match trend.

Camo & Stripes @Llymlrs

Feeling human again after a hellish battle with jet lag 🤗

A post shared by Lily Melrose (@llymlrs) on

We love Youtuber and Blogger Lily Melrose’s outfit here.

By combining a camouflage jacket and a Breton striped t-shirt, she has perfected the trend but it doesn’t look too over the top.

This would be the perfect look to wear during a casual day out, worn with some black jeans or a skirt to prevent the look from being too busy.

How cute are Lily’s sunglasses too?

She has incorporated another subtle pattern through these, and they give the look a special ‘something.’

You can get the same sort of look with the gorgeous Marilyn Monroe THEMARILYN.

These sunglasses are just stunning, with their animal print frames and vintage inspired cat-eye shape.

They are also available in three other colours, and would look fabulous worn with any mix and match outfit.

Florals & Stripes @Samanthamariaofficial

I went shopping for culottes and then explained/showed how I style them over on my channel! 😁🎥

A post shared by SAMANTHA MARIA (@samanthamariaofficial) on

Samantha here wears a subtle mix and match outfit by combining bold striped culottes and a floral embroidered maxi cardigan.

Sam proves that patterns don’t need to be really ‘statement’ to pull off the trend.

You can easily achieve the trend by adding subtle floral detailing through a cover-up or accessories such as a handbag, jewellery or a pair of sunglasses.

Geometric & Polka Dots @Inthefrow

Victoria from @inthefrow (left) demonstrates how to perfectly combine the two separate trends of polka dots and geometric into one gorgeous look.

Her outfit works so well as she keeps the colour scheme based on two colours – blue and white.

Even her hair and shoes match these two colours.

The high waistband on the flared trousers makes her legs look super long, whilst the sleeveless top prevents her outfit from swamping her. Love.

Go Tailored @Alexachung

Man, I feel like a woman.

A post shared by Alexa (@alexachung) on

We love Alexa’s outfit here, and how she has combined different patterns to create a smart, tailored look.

The tartan patterned jacket works beautifully with her striped shirt and creates an interesting and really stylish outfit.

The smart cream trousers tie the whole look together and pick up on the colour of the shirt.

Alexa shows that you can experiment with colours when doing a mix and match look – you don’t need to focus just on one or two key colours.

Gingham & Floral @Pixielott

livin in colour💕✨💗🎨💚💛💜💖💘💝

A post shared by Pixie Lott (@pixielott) on

Floral and gingham prints are the epitome of summer, and here Pixie Lott has cleverly combined the two into one outfit.

The bright floral top combines two different floral patterns, whilst the straps feature a cute black and white gingham print.

Pixie ties the look together with a black jacket to match the gingham print.
