Ah, The New Forest. Located in the South of England, this beautiful mixture of heathland, pastureland and forest has been drawing tourists to enjoy its sites for centuries. The area it actually covers is vast, at 571 square kilometers. There really is something for everyone to enjoy. It is the perfect location for a family holiday, romantic weekend break or even just a quick day trip.

1. Beaulieu National Motor Museum
If you’re interested in cars or motorcycles (old and new), then a visit to the Beaulieu National Motor Museum is a must.
Located in the beautiful village of Beaulieu, this incredible place is crammed full of some of the oldest and most stunning cars in the world.
It is also home to a Top Gear exhibition, with some of the actual cars and experiments used in the BBC program. There is a great cafe, a mono rail and even a gorgeous 13th Century Cistercian Abbey which you can visit (see the picture below).
If this wasn’t enough, then you can also visit Palace House which is on the same site. This is where top secret agents were trained during the Second World War, before they were deployed as spies.
2. Go for a bike ride
There are hundreds of fantastic cycling routes in the New Forest. It is a great way admire the beauty of the area, and get some exercise too.

If you don’t want to bring a bike, there are plenty of cycle hire shops throughout the forest, where you can hire a bike for a very reasonable cost.
Many of the routes are actually road free or use very quite roads, so it is the perfect activity for young children or inexperienced riders.
3. Moors Valley Country Park
This is such a great place for all the family, with so much to do.
Why not have a go on a segway, or perhaps try one of the high-ropes courses? If this is a bit too active for you, then this is also a mini railway and a fantastic cafe and a fishing lake.
Children can play in the ginormous play area, with some of the coolest play equipment I have ever seen.
There is an place to hire bikes and some brilliant safe cycle trails suitable for all the family. Or why not have a go on the 18-hole golf course or try out orienteering?
4. Get out for a walk
Get out there are just go for a walk.
There are so many walking footpaths across heathland, through forests and by streams. You will also get the unique opportunity to spot some of the 3000 New Forest ponies which roam freely across the forest.
They have native to the area for over 2000 years.
5. Lymington Sea Water Baths
Located on the south coast, Lymington Sea Water Baths is the perfect place to go for a paddle, a swim or even to go kayaking.
You can hire boats on the shore if you wish, plus inflatable toys. There is also a great little cafe to enjoy an ice cream or two on a hot day.
If you plan on sunbathing by the Sea Water Baths, then you’re going to need a stylish pair of sunglasses to protect your eyes from UV rays.
