Off Duty Model Style In Paris

The ‘off duty model’ look is very familiar among fashion circles, and generally consists of a mixture of simple items artfully put together by a stylist to give that just thrown on look.

The uniform largely consists of staple pieces such as tight fitting jeans, a plain top, boots, a leather jacket and the all important sunglasses to shield from paparazzi glare.

However, this uniform seems to go out the window when it comes to Paris Couture Fashion Week.

Goodbye simple, staple (albeit high priced designer) items, and hello to high fashion, borderline couture looks punctuated with some of this season’s hottest accessories, including futuristic or barely there sunglasses.

Less is certainly more with this trend.

Think Neo and Moprheous from the Matrix meets 90s fashion meets couture, and you’ll have something akin to what we are seeing on todays hottest supermodels.

And then we have the other end of the spectrum, influence by the likes of Gucci and Dolce & Gabbana, where bigger is certainly better.

Demonstrating two binary trends currently operating in high fashion circles, both as bold as each other, both turning heads, and eyes.

Some of our favourite models of the moment, Bella and Gigi Hadid, Winnie Harlow, Slick Woods and Kendall Jenner have all been exhibiting their usual flair within the fashion stakes.

Paris fashion week has seen the pounding the catwalks for the likes of Miu Miu, Alexander Vaultier, and Fendi to name a few, but the stylish looks haven’t been confined to the catwalk.

Lets take a look at some of the models runway ready looks, off the runway.

Gigi is serving space cowboy, meets daisy duke, meets Barbie with this bold, pink and incredibly glossy look.

Her red lenses shades give a contrasting edge to the overall ensemble, including one of the hottest colour clash palettes, baby pink and blood red.

Glamorous Parisian hotel backdrop check.

Sleek hair and accessories, check, check.

Bella is giving serious Matrix and tanning bed goggle vibes with these minuscule lenses.

Their simple, subtle and small nature adds a modern touch to her elegant Dior gown without upstaging or seeming incongruous to the look.

Bella strikes twice with these classic Kurt Cobain style oval sunglasses, perhaps officially the most popular style of the season.

The width and round lenses make them a flattering shape for most, perfect to add a touch of grunge-glamour to your look.

Winnie takes a break from her hectic Paris Fashion Week schedule to enjoy a trip to Disneyland and some candy floss, all of which is done with her unique, sporty-chic style.

Her oversized mirrored lenses represent the other end of the trend spectrum – the bigger the better, also proving you can never go wrong with a reflective aviator.

Slick Woods, one of fashions new it-girls, displays her classically quirky and unique style with this zip up, sweater playsuit, embellished stiletto pumps and of some major eye candy.

Now while this look may have occurred slightly after Paris Fashion Week, Kendall and Bella were still clearly feeling some high fashion influences at Pride in London.

The two coordinated in similar 90s influenced ensembles, including high waisted baggy jeans, crop tops and the new classic, tiny sunglasses.

Live life through little or large lenses with these great picks from Select Specs, meaning you can rock either, or both of these trends.
