Paris For The Weekend: Travel Guide

Paris is an incredible city, one of the few that I would not mind visiting more than once. If not the plethora of treats that can satisfy my sweet tooth, it is the culture and buzz of the city that makes it unique each time.

Even if it is for a weekend, Paris has so much to offer.

Regardless of how many times you have been to Paris, here are 5 experiences you should fit into a weekend in Paris.

Picnic by the Eiffel Tower

If the day is pleasant, grab a blanket, some wine, cheese and a pair of  Chopard SCHC42S 23 kt Gold Plated / Swarovski crystals sunglasses and get yourself to a lawn/garden.

Top preference would be the lawns in front of the Eiffel Tower as long as it is not jam-packed with people.

Have a relaxed morning absorbing the city’s buzz.

It also helps that you have a pair of incredibly stylish sunglasses on.

Stroll Along The Champs Elysée

In as cliché as it is, walking through the Champs Elysée is one of the many joys of Paris.

Regardless of if you will or want to shop at any of the high end fashion stores or not, the energy on the street is definitely something you won’t find elsewhere.

If you are in the mood, find a cafe, order some wine and cheese and do some people-watching.

Ladurée Macarons

Being in Paris and not having some amazing macarons is a sin.

If it’s your first macaron, you won’t go wrong trying some from Ladurée, they are some of the best you will have.

But be warned, they are a bit pricey.

Try a few of their flavors, and try them early on during your weekend trip – you may just want to come back for more.

Breakfast Time

Breakfast must be my favourite meal in Paris.

Find a street-side cafe and enjoy some fresh croissants, a crispy tartine spread with butter and jam, some hot coffee and a fresh orange juice.

There are little joys that can compare to a Parisienne breakfast along the side of a street.

Get there early and you can have the pastries fresh.

If it were up to me, I’d have a croissant or pain au chocolat with every meal.

Get Art Immersed

For all those art lovers out there, Paris is perfect.

Not only are you in the home of the Louvre, but also the Musée de l’Orangerie.

This would your chance to get up close and personal with some beautiful Monet paintings as well as hundreds of renaissance paintings in the Louvre – amongst other time periods and styles.

If you are more of a modern art fan, or even prefer graffiti as a medium, there is something for you in Paris.

It is true that a lot of these experiences revolve around food, but you will also have plenty of time to visit some of the other sites.

Depending on how much time you have around your meals because lets face it – holidays that revolve around food are the best kind, you can visit the Sacre Coeur, climb up the Eiffel Tower, visit the Louvre, the Centre Pompidou the Lafayette etc.

There is so much to see in Paris, that you can split the various sites over a series of visits.

It can get easy to get caught up in the rush to see everything, but remember to plan some rest time to just enjoy the moment as well.
