South America is known for its beautiful weather, food, and of course music.

When you think of Salsa, Zumba, Tango or Samba, most energetic dances and music comes from the region.

The fluidity of music means that it continues to cross cultures.

The Colombian songstress is well known for her folk, middle eastern, and traditional Latin style of music.

She’s often compared to Christina Aguilera and Britney Spears.

But her style of singing sets her apart from her contemporaries.

Her music is usually sung in Spanish, but her first English crossover song (Whenever, Wherever) reached number 6 on Billboard’s Hot 100 and the album reached number 3.

In her country, she’s looked upon as Mother Theresa because of her charity organization Pies Descalzos (Barefoot) which she established at the age of 19.

The company opened six schools in rural areas, providing education and jobs for more than 30,000 people.

Marc Anthony

He’s a Latin pop singer and songwriter from Latin America.

Those of us in the West got to know him through his first self-titled album Marc Anthony, and his marriage to Jennifer Lopez.

Anthony also tried his hands in acting and appeared alongside Denzel Washington in Man on Fire and Selma Hayek in the Time of Butterflies.

Anthony won his first Grammy for Best Latin Tropical Performance in 1998.
