Top 5 Specs For Students

If you’re an eighteen or nineteen year old in the UK, you may have just got your exam results back and selected your favourite university. Now the waiting’s over, it’s time to prepare; let the packing commence!

When I left home for university two years ago, I found the whole process rather daunting.

Moving away from my tiny village in the middle of nowhere to a busier and livelier area was scary, but exciting.

I remember packing up the car full of bed sets, cushions, folders, kitchen equipment and lots of clothes.

Once I got to university and settled in, I thoroughly enjoyed my first year.

I wish I could rewind and do it all again… it goes so quick!

In preparation for moving out, I bought new things to fill up my dorm room.

I also bought new clothes for fresher’s week, because it was the perfect excuse.

It was a good opportunity to sort out my wardrobe and change up my look a bit.

If, like me, you’re a glasses-wearer, changing your frames can really make a difference to your look.

For me, I changed from rectangular-shaped glasses to oval ones, and I found that I started to dress differently to suit my new look!

So, with this in mind, I’ve compiled my top 5 list of specs that I think are perfect for student life, especially if you want to change-it-up a bit.

1. The Infinity P77333

I have put these frames at the top of the list because I have a pair myself.

I really like the tortoiseshell pattern and they’re not too in-your-face.

I was worried when I ordered them because I’d never tried a pair of oval frames, and I was scepticle as to whether they would suit me.

But the risk paid off; they’re slightly ‘flattened’ along the top, meaning they’re not too round – I wasn’t after the ‘Harry Potter’ look!

The reduced price of £13 is so cheap considering the great quality – they’re pretty sturdy – perfect for nights out at the club.

YouTube star Zoella loves this style almost as much as I do – spotted here wearing a similar pair for herself.

2. The Savannah 2444

Alternatively, you could go for a bolder style.

These Savannah specs have a thick frame, making them the center piece of an outfit.

They’re one of the most popular glasses on our site for a reason; they suit a variety of different face shapes and can be paired with any outfit.

The dark colour makes them versatile, giving you more freedom when styling your look.

3. The Antares 5025

Colourful frames are a great way to brighten up your look.

Quite different from the first two, these patterned specs would make you stand out from the crowd, and may even be a conversation starter – great for the first few weeks of university.

Personally, I think they are fab for co-ordinating with the rest of your outfit; match them with a red bag or scarf, for example.

These glasses also come in blue and black & white, if you’re not looking for something quite so bright!

4. The Hallmark T8807

Number four on my list are these Hallmark gradient colour glasses.

I had a pair similar to this a few years back, and I found that they were more subtle if you’re not a fan of showing off your specs.

The thin arms won’t get in the way of bold jewellery and the dark-to-light colour means you can wear them with any outfit.

This is great for tired mornings when you can’t decide what to wear!

5. The Infinity 8110

Finally, we have these lovely oversized glasses.

Despite their size, they’re lightweight and easy to wear.

Perfect for those who have a more angular face-shape, the matte black frames are versatile and would add an urban ‘edge’ to any outfit.

Whether you’re changing up your look or not, I wish you all the best in this next chapter of your life.

I promise you, you’ll have the best time (and hopefully won’t get sick of cooking pasta).
