Before you start trying on zillions of frames, it’s better to take some time to find out what shape your face is first. After all, buying a pair of sunglasses is a bit like shopping for a pair of jeans; not every style is going to suit your shape, but once you know what works for you, it’s all easy from there!
Today, I’m going to look at which frame styles are recommended for those of you with an oblong face shape and I will feature some of the trendiest sunglasses this year.
Who has an oblong face shape?
Gisele Bundchen, Liv Tyler and Kelly Rowland.
Let me remind you that an oblong shaped face is longer than it is wide. It has angular features with high cheekbones and a tall forehead. If this sounds like your face, round glasses and big frames are recommended for you and this year there are some amazing models which will be great for you. Larger wayfarer or rectangular sunglasses with thick frames suit a long face, but avoid going for small frames.
Dior Glossy 1
When it comes to sunglasses, not everyone can embrace the style of the iconic Jackie Kennedy but with your oblong face, you can be sure to look great in this pair of big framed classy sunglasses by Dior.
Kiss & Kill KP601S
These distinct sunglasses will take you one step further from the classic round-framed sunglasses. For less than £80, the Kiss & Kill KP601S are the perfect accessory for all your summer events and they are also suitable for prescription lenses!
This pair of awesome rectangular sunglasses with a very thick frame is exactly great for oblong face shapes. The Max&Co 202 have both a stylish frame and a very affordable price tag at only £70. They are available in six different colours in case you don’t feel like wearing the flashy ones I’ve fallen for!
The Savannah M1282 are suitable for those of you who like to get noticed. They are an oversize version of the aviators and will look fab on oblong shaped faces with the extra benefit of being polarized and for only £35, not a bad choice at all.
I’ll talk about frames for other face shapes in my next post but until then, I’d love to hear from you about your favourite styles for your face shape. Send us your pictures or tag us @SelectSpecs on Twitter and Instagram.
