Top 5 Reasons To Visit The Maldives

In case the Maldives is not on your bucket list, here are 5 reasons to convince you otherwise. At this point, I will also confess that selecting photos for this post was so challenging.

The Maldives is probably one of the most photogenic of places, so every single photo is  incredible.

Having grown up in a coastal town, my expectations of the Maldives were not sky-high.

However, after spending a week there, I can confirm that it was genuinely everything that these photos depict and a lot more.

Here are my top 5 reasons that the Maldives should also be on your bucket list.

All The Views

Clear waters, gorgeous sunsets, stunning hotels, and beautiful sea life. The list could go on.

There are so many incredible views to drink in whilst holidaying in the Maldives. It is a place of pure beauty and serenity, with views you could never get tired of seeing.

Most hotels are designed to maximize the views (and by extension, opportunities for  breathtaking photographs) so regardless of where you stay, you can be assured your eyes will be pleased.

Snorkeling in a UNESCO Heritage Site

When you’re not soaking in the sun (and the views) from the beach , you’re probably relaxing in the ocean.

One of my favourite experiences whilst I was in the Maldives was snorkeling in the beautiful coral reefs (a UNESCO world heritage site) which are so well protected.

Whilst staying at the Dusit Thani, we managed to see 4 sea turtles, a sting ray, an octopus and even some dolphins on the first day.

The best part: the coral reef and incredible sea life was literally a few steps down from the room’s deck.

There’s no excuse not to experience the breathtaking beauty of the multi-coloured fish, and beautiful coral.

Hospitality

One of the most important things when going on holiday is finding the right kind of hospitality.

Whilst you are in the Maldives, you want to be pampered, you want delicious food, and most of all, you want to be surrounded by happy people.

Most of the 4/5 star hotels (as well as some of the more pocket-friendly ones) will give you exactly that.

Don’t forget to check out the Tripadvisor reviews so that you choose the best hotel for you.

After all, hospitality makes the difference between a great holiday and an incredible one.

Dolphins

During my stay at the Dusit Thani, we had the fortune of being in close proximity to a small pod of dolphins not once, but twice.

The first time was whilst we were kayaking and the second whilst snorkeling. Of course this was pure luck, however, many of the hotels do offer organized dolphin cruises where you can watch and follow pods of dolphins swim through the waves as the sun sets.

Yet another opportunity for an unforgettable experience.

Escape

If you are looking for some escape, and a rest from reality, the Maldives would be perfect for you.

Many of the hotels occupy their own island, meaning that you are in relative isolation from reality – a little bubble of paradise.

The Maldives is definitely nothing short of paradise – you wake up to the sound and sight of the ocean and fall asleep to it too.

I don’t think it can get any better than that. The great thing is that, contrary to common belief, the Maldives is not just a place for honeymooners.

Though it does make for an incredibly romantic holiday (depending on the hotel and package that is chosen), many hotels also cater for family and friends.

So, if you are holding back on the Maldives until you find a worthy accomplice, remember – you can always go twice. Or thrice. Or as often as your wallet allows.
