Top 5 Looks At The 2017 Met Gala

The Metropolitan Museum of Arts Gala is to fashionistas what the Oscars are to filmmakers. This star-studded & glamorous red carpet event is held every year in May to raise funds for the Costume Institute. It is undoubtedly the most watched, black-tie extravaganza brimming with A-list celebrities of the year.

The Met Gala is not just for a beneficial cause, it is essentially an exhibition of art. Although the coveted guests are not strictly asked to dress according to the exhibition theme; it is encouraged.

This year’s theme was “Rei Kawakubo/Comme des Garçons: Art of the In-Between.” From the hundreds of executives and who’s who of the showbiz world, there were many who tested out the Avant Garde look.

Let’s check out our favorite 5 best dressed looks from the Met Gala:

1. Avant-Garde RiRi

Our very own Barbadian singer, Rihanna nailed the Avant-Garde look with this exclusive floral attire, teaming it with her signature flamboyant styled red heels that strapped elegantly all the way up her legs.

Salute to BadGirlRiri – she was certainly the Reigning Queen of Met Gala 2017 as she celebrated Rei Kawakubo’ s sense of style defying the ‘playing it safe rule’ and going for a daring look.

We eyeballed her as she walked the red carpet that glorious evening. RiRi – You rocked it, girl!

2. The Trench

Priyanka Chopra, first-time attendee of the Met Gala, wore a custom Ralph Lauren floor-sweeping trench.

The dramatic train covered the entire staircase of the Met’s famous entrance. A trench coat transformed into a sexy mini dress for busting dance moves at the late-night party and bash.

Instead of going for glitter, shine or classy gowns, Priyanka opted for something totally different, paying tribute to the quintessentially boundary-breaking Japanese designer Kawakubo.

3. Divine Goddess: Selena

With her sheer white, lace silky Coach gown that flaunted her long, lean legs with a plunging sexy slit on the side, she brought the WOW factor to the red carpet. Looking no less than a divine goddess.

Besides the stunning flowy gown, we love the accessories she wore with the dress, including her Coach bag studded and inked with “Love Yourself First,” matching her Arabic tattoo bearing the same meaning.

No wonder she turned heads for all the right reasons – her embellished dress as well as her public debut with The Weeknd included whispering sweet nothings in his ear at the gala.

4. The Sexy Siren Girl

Known for her fearless and sometimes outlandish looks, Sexy-Siren Rapper girl Nicki Minaj may not have met the Met Gala Best Dressed List, but she certainly grabbed our attention.

Creating drama and commotion with her black and red one-of-a-kind custom H&M organza gown, she paid homage to the unconventional designs of Rei Kawakubo with a glossy obi belt featuring a Kawakubo mask at the front of her dress.

Ultra-mod girl Gigi Hadid wore an eye-catching part off-shoulder asymmetrical champagne gown by Tommy Hilfiger.

She teamed up the look with thigh skimming fishnets, giving a racier edge to the otherwise princess-style ball gown. Complimenting her breath-taking one-sided frock dress was her side-swept bang hairstyle and bold wings of eyeliner – a serious fashion statement.

Want to steal her style? You may not be able to get your hands on Gigi’s custom-made dress, but you can steal this diva’s Princess look with these Dolce & Gabbana glasses below – sure to make you feel like a hot supermodel.
