The hot, humid weather attributed to summer means that you need to think carefully about what makeup you decide to wear.
You need it to stay put, and look perfect throughout long days of sunbathing, partying and just generally having fun.
Take a look below for some top tips on what type of makeup to wear this summer, and how to make it last throughout the long, hazy days of the season.
Keep Eye Makeup Minimal
Make like models Bella Hadid and Evelina Cartasova and keep eye makeup low key and simple.
Not only will this give you a natural, laid back summer look, but there will be less chance of your mascara running or eyeshadow creasing.
Waterproof mascara is also a good option if you think you will be in hot, humid conditions or there’s a possibility you might go swimming.
If you really want to wear some more dramatic eye make up, then make sure you prime your skin properly before application.
Use an eyeshadow primer to prevent creasing and the makeup from rubbing off. Alternatively, opt for a cream shadow base and layer powder makeup over the top of this.
Opt For Highlighter
To give your face that gorgeous, lived-in summer glow, add a little subtle highlighter onto the tops of your cheekbones just like Sam Chapman here.
Don’t be too over-zealous with it though – you skin will naturally perspire and glow a little anyway in the heat.
Make sure you keep places like your nose, chin and forehead mattified with a good dusting of powder, or you run the risk of looking oily.
Use Bronzer To Contour
Bronzer has always been a summer makeup staple – it is the perfect way to cheat a tan or to emphasize one you have already got.
Contrary to popular belief, bronzer can be worn by people of all skin-tones – even those with the fairest of skins.
If you have fair skin, then look for a bronzer which is pink or coral based as opposed to orange or bronze – this will give you the most natural look possible.
Apply bronzer under your cheekbones, on your temples, your hairline and your jaw line to give you a ‘halo effect’.
This will not only make your face look super healthy and tanned, but will also have a slimming effect. Don’t add too much though – less if definitely more with this look.
Keep Lips Nude or Natural
Heavy, thick, bright lipsticks can look particularly unnatural and over the top in the warm summer months.
If you’re wearing a bright lipstick you may also worry about the colour melting and ‘bleeding’ down your chin – eek!
Instead, go for a little slick of lipgloss, or a coating of lip balm which just emphasizes your natural lip colour, like Fleur De Force here.
If you want to add a little bit of colour to your lips, then a peach tone is the perfect summer look which suits a tan perfectly.
What better accessory to team with your makeup than a gorgeous pair of sunglasses?
If you like Fleur’s pair, then take a look at the Fendi FF 0242/S. There unique cat-eye styling, unique temple design and jeweled embellishment would look gorgeous worn with any summer outfit. They are also available in two other beautiful colours.
