It’s the most wonderful time of the year…no not Christmas, but wedding season.
If all your pals are getting hitched and you’ve literally got a nuptial a weekend for the foreseeable future, you might be getting a little worried about the state of your wardrobe (and your bank balance).
While the big event itself is packed full of laughter and happiness, the lead-up can be a little harder to stomach especially if you’re on a budget.
Perhaps it was easier in the pre-social-media era, when you didn’t have to worry about getting tagged in the same outfit at different weddings.
Apparently some people even think not splashing out for new gear for each occasion is rude.
However, we reckon that it’s still worth getting a few key investment pieces, even at risk of of being outed as wearing your clothes more than once.
Here are our top tips for a more financially sustainable wedding season.
Maxis are definitely wedding-guest staples, and there are lots of updates on the style this season.
For a thrifty take, fashion your own from a top and maxi skirt.
For different weddings, simply switch up top or bottom half for a whole new get-up.
Look for cold-shoulder tops and designs with gypsy ruffles for up-to-the-minute pieces that you can wear all summer long, not just for the big day.
Alternatively, go for a plain maxi and hit the accessories to the max.
Opt for a blanket wrap to cover up, or turn your outfit on its head with a magnificent hat or fascinator.
Wearing with statement glasses is a great way of transforming an outfit:

Weddings are often associated with stiff up-dos and tight ringlets, but these days there’s a lot more scope to experiment, especially as a guest.
Mixing up your hair is also a fab way of changing your look.
Go boho with a low-slung pony, or experiment with some loose braids.
Next nuptial, try a soft half-up-half-down style, or go for a deep side parting.
Be sure to take a look at the countless video tutorials online so you can have a few stock styles up your sleeve; even if you’re wearing the same attire, a different ‘do will instantly refresh your look.
Shoes can be the finishing touch to an outfit.
Or they can be the game changer.
Investing in a pair of on-trend heels will help you waltz through this wedding period with ease.
Get a pair in a neutral shade to ensure they go with anything; just be sure to look for edgy details that will set them apart.
Tassels and tie-up embellishments are just the ticket right now.
Or look for all the updates on court shoes this season: from cut-out details to experimental heels, there’s going to be a standout option for you.
