His first hit song would come two years later with the release of &#8220;Fingertips&#8221;, where he was introduced as the &#8220;Little Stevie Wonder-The 12 year old genius&#8221;. On his 21st birthday in\u00a0May 1971, he had acquired full artistic control of his recordings (which was rare for any artist at that time much less a black artist) and which would later enable the\u00a0him the artistic freedom\u00a0to produce\u00a0his widely considered classic albums such as Talking Book (1972) which gave the hit single &#8220;Superstition&#8221;, Innervisions (1973) which produced the hit singles &#8220;Living for the City&#8221; and &#8220;Don&#8217;t You worry &#8217;bout a Thing&#8221; and Songs to the Key of Life (1976) which included the singles &#8220;Sir Duke&#8221;, &#8220;Isn&#8217;t She Lovely&#8221; and &#8220;As.&#8221;\u00a0He would also become one of the pioneers in the use of synthesizers to create a futuristic sound, years before\u00a0became the compulsory instrument\u00a0in Disco\/R&#8217;n&#8217;B during the late seventies.<\/p>\n<p>In 1980 he released &#8220;Happy Birthday&#8221; in honour of Martin Luther King Jr which was\u00a0used in order to have the now national holiday named after the civil rights leader. During that same decade, the hits continued with the UK chart topper &#8220;I just called to say I love you&#8221; and &#8220;Part Time Lover&#8221;. He has also been socially aware with speaking out against racism especially during the apartheid era\u00a0and contributing to the USA for Africa single in 1985 and his various charitable work.
