If you can&#8217;t stand super hot weather, then do not visit in the height of summer, or you will be suffering!<\/p>\n<p>I flew from London Luton to Nimes, which took just over an hour and a half, but stepping off the plane I felt like I&#8217;d be transported to the other side of the world. Famous for its large square and its twice-weekly food and crafts market, it is a really interesting place to visit. Think cobbled streets, stone walls and quiet secluded gardens.<\/p>\n<p>There are plenty of little cafes and restaurants dotted along the streets and in the square &#8211; perfect for a glass of wine and to watch the world go by. There is also an incredible gelato shop, with some of the most amazing flavors. A must, in my opinion.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_18789\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-18789\" style=\"width: 960px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.selectspecs.com\/x-fashion-lifestyle\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2017\/03\/haribo-1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-18789\" src=\"https:\/\/www.selectspecs.com\/x-fashion-lifestyle\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2017\/03\/haribo-1.jpg\" alt=\"Haribo\" width=\"960\" height=\"540\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-18789\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Haribo<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\">It is also home to the Haribo factory and shop. Ever heard of the song &#8216;Sur le Pont d&#8217;Avignon&#8217;? Yeah.<\/p>\n<p>Although the bridge is beautiful and well worth a visit, don&#8217;t miss the other treasures in this city. For example, the Pope&#8217;s Palace (or Palais de Papes), is a huge 13th Century monastery, and absolutely stunning. The architecture and sheer size of it is staggering.<\/p>\n<p>Afterwards, why not browse the historic streets and pop into a cafe or two?<\/p>\n<h1 style=\"text-align: center\">La Roque-sur-Ceze &amp; Cascades.<\/h1>\n<figure id=\"attachment_18791\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-18791\" style=\"width: 1920px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.selectspecs.com\/x-fashion-lifestyle\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2017\/03\/nature-1424884_1920-1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-18791\" src=\"https:\/\/www.selectspecs.com\/x-fashion-lifestyle\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2017\/03\/nature-1424884_1920-1.jpg\" alt=\"La Roque-sur-Ceze\" width=\"1920\" height=\"1440\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-18791\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">La Roque-sur-Ceze<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"attachment_18793\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-18793\" style=\"width: 1920px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.selectspecs.com\/x-fashion-lifestyle\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2017\/03\/cascade-567384_1920-1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-18793\" src=\"https:\/\/www.selectspecs.com\/x-fashion-lifestyle\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2017\/03\/cascade-567384_1920-1.jpg\" alt=\"Cascades du Sautadet\" width=\"1920\" height=\"1276\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-18793\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Cascades du Sautadet<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>This place is a bit of a secret, so shhh, don&#8217;t tell anyone. La Roque-Sur-Ceze is a beautiful little Medieval village set high upon a hill, and has been voted the most beautiful village in France.<\/p>\n<p>The chapel even stretches back to the 12th Century. There is a small &amp; delicious\u00a0cafe in the village, but otherwise, not much else to do. It is very beautiful all the same, with fantastic views.<\/p>\n<p>The Cascades du Sautadet are pretty spectacular too. Located around a 10 minute walk away from the village, these dramatic waterfalls, rapids and whirlpools are amazing to look at, having been carving out the rocks for 1000s of years. Just be really careful and don&#8217;t fall in or go for a dip &#8211; seriously, you won&#8217;t get out again. Further downstream, you will find a beautiful still pool, perfect for a swim.<\/p>\n<h1 style=\"text-align: center\">Pont du Gard.<\/h1>\n<figure id=\"attachment_18795\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-18795\" style=\"width: 1920px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.selectspecs.com\/x-fashion-lifestyle\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2017\/03\/pont-du-gard-533365_1920-1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-18795\" src=\"https:\/\/www.selectspecs.com\/x-fashion-lifestyle\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2017\/03\/pont-du-gard-533365_1920-1.jpg\" alt=\"Pont du Gard\" width=\"1920\" height=\"1280\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-18795\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Pont du Gard<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>This place was awesome! The Pont du Gard is an ancient Roman aqueduct and remains in a remarkable condition. You can walk all the way across, and even go inside.<\/p>\n<p>A little downstream you can find a kayak hire place too, where you can go and paddle all the way under the bridge! It was one of the biggest cities in the former Roman empire, and this is pretty evident with the huge temple and arena.<\/p>\n<p>The arena is actually still used for bull-fighting &#8211; not really my thing though. Interesting fact: the arena was used in the filming of the movie &#8216;Gladiator&#8217;.<\/p>\n<p>Being a city, there are so many places to visit and eat here. Fantastic shopping too, with many high-end designer shops.<\/p>\n<p>With the weather (nearly) always so sunny, make sure you take some super sunnies to protect your eyes and make sure you look the part.
