Jared Leto Fronts Carrera’s New Eyewear Campaign

Jared Leto: actor, singer, songwriter, director and now Carrera eyewear model. The 30 Seconds to Mars front man and Suicide Squad star is a familiar face when it comes to music and films, but he has recently turned his hand to a new venture, becoming the face of the brand’s new Maverick collection. Is there anything he can’t do?!

Established in 1956, Italian brand Carrera have become one of the most recognised names when it comes to sporty and stylish eyewear and have gained a legendary reputation as a celebrity favourite.

The brand have launched the Maverick collection for Spring/Summer 2016 as part of their 60th birthday celebrations.

According to Carrera, the Maverick Collection is for #OutThere Characters. In their own words, “People who are fearless enough to go their own way. Brave enough to make it happen. Some say they are geniuses. We call them The Mavericks.”

The collection focuses on classic styles with a unique and unconventional twist, so it’s no surprise that they chose Jared Leto to front their campaign. With his easy-going attitude and rock ‘n’ roll background, he is the perfect ambassador to represent the brand’s cool ethos and bold image.

And it seems he was just as keen to work with them as they were with him. In a recent statement, Jared said:

I’ve known of Carrera since I was a kid and when I came across the Maverick project I was immediately connected to it as it talks about people that are brave, bold, that take risks, the wild horses, the people that are not afraid to fail, the type of people who have inspired me my whole life.

Shot on the streets of an unknown location, the series of promotional images show Jared looking as suave and sophisticated as ever, as he shows off the latest designs from Carrera alongside a range of cool and casual outfits.  The campaign features cool shades and classic specs teamed with checked shirts, hoodies and T-shirts.

Designs from the Maverick collection include ‘The Impel’, a classic aviator frame with an iconic reverse bridge shade made from lightweight laser-cut stainless steel and ‘The Beam’, a pair of squared, thin-framed glasses that are perfect for the modern man.

With such stylish and easy-to-wear designs, it’s not hard to see why Carrera is celebrating it’s 60th year of eyewear success.
