The American Music Awards are an annual music awards ceremony, which originated in 1974.
It is considered to be one of the top 3 music award ceremonies in America, the others being the Grammy Awards and the Billboard Music Awards.
This year’s event was held on the night of the 24th November 2019 at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles, California.
The ceremony was hosted by the American R&B singer, Ciara.
There were several live musical performances on the night from popular artists such as Selena Gomez, Lizzo and Taylor Swift.
Many musical artists also won awards on the night such as Billie Eilish and Beyoncé for the ‘New Artist of the Year’ and ‘Favorite Female Artist – Soul/ R&B’ awards respectively.
Aside from the music and awards, there was also a strong focus on fashion.

Billy Porter
Billy Porter is best known for being an American Broadway star, starring in many successful shows such as Miss Saigon, Little Shop of Horrors and Kinky Boots.
Porter has also starred in several films and television programmes in the past.
The 50-year old took to the red carpet at the AMA’s this year wearing a striking ensemble courtesy of designers Thom Browne and Stephen Jones.
He is sporting a all-white look, featuring military inspired detailing – we are obsessed with the juxtaposition of the layering!
He has styled it up with some monochrome pointed patent shoes and a standout headpiece.

Diplo
Thomas Wesley Pentz (aka Diplo) is an American DJ and songwriter, best known for featuring on tracks such as ‘C’mon (Catch ‘Em By Surprise)’, ‘Earthquake’ and ‘Close to Me’.
He wore a Western inspired outfit to the AMA’s this year.
He opted for a tan and black coloured jacket, featuring suede and leather panelling – we also love the studded details!
It has been paired with a simple black turtleneck and bold jewellery pieces for a sophisticated yet fashionable feel.
He is also sporting a stylish fedora hat and a pair of semi-transparent shades.

Watt
Andrew Watt is a New York native, recognised for his work as a musician and producer.
He has previously collaborated with a wealth of famous musical artists including the likes of Justin Bieber, Rita Ora and Halsey, to name a few.
He is showing us his great sense of style with this all-black outfit.
He chose to wear a frilly glittery black shirt for the occasion, complete with sparkling slogan jeans – such a cool look.

Dan Levy
Dan Levy is most recognised for being a Canadian actor.
He took to the red carpet wearing a black collared shirt and a matching suit jacket and trousers.
He chose to spice things up with the addition of a black and red printed coat and chunky trainers, giving more of a casual feel.

Los Angeles based television presenter, A.J. Gibson attended the American Music Awards this year.
