First Look at Prada SS16 Women’s Eyewear Campaign

Prada Womens Eyewear Campaign SS16

Prada are one of the most influential brands when it comes to stylish designer eyewear, so we’ve been eagerly awaiting inspiration from their latest advertising campaign. Well, the fashion house released their SS16 eyewear images this week, and they certainly didn’t disappoint!

Photographed in New York by Steven Meisel, the campaign featured Prada veterans Natalia Vodianova and Sasha Pivovarova as well as new face Yasmin Wijnaldum. The models looked amazing as they showed off the brand’s latest fashion and eyewear styles, including statement shades and designs from the optical collection. The frames were styled with woollen jackets, high necks and printed dresses alongside simple hair and makeup to create an air of glamour and aristocratic elegance that seems to be inspired by a bygone era.

According to Prada, the new campaign “presents an investigation into cyclical evolution, fragmenting and layering the decades of the past to refigure them into modernity.”

The new collection combines modern designs with a retro edge that’s both timeless yet oh-so on trend for 2016. From cat-eye shades to round frames, they’re fashion-forward but easy to style for everyday wear.

So without further ado, let’s take a look at some of our favourite looks from Prada’s new eyewear advertising campaign.

Statement Sunglasses

Statement shades are one of the easiest ways to add a luxe designer edge to an outfit and Prada sure know this. Although their latest collection keeps things simple with minimal embellishment and pared-back colour, the new campaign features a pair of very unique shades modelled by Sasha Pivovarova.

This stand out pair of shades feature semi-rectangular frames with coloured edges and Prada branding on the side. Perfect for making a style statement this summer.

Retro-Inspired Round Frames

The SS16 Prada campaign successfully fuses modern and vintage styles for a fresh new look. Models wear lace with over-sized plastic sequins and frames combine elements of both contemporary and retro designs.

One of our favourite looks is this pair of round retro-inspired glasses worn by Yasmin Wijnaldum. While they’re inspired by old-fashioned round specs, the silver metal finish and statement bridge detail give them an almost futuristic look. Prada describes them as ‘sophisticated and luxurious’ and we couldn’t agree more.

Glam Over-sized Shades

According to Prada, these fabulous over-sized sunnies are a ‘contemporary translation of elegance’. Featuring subtle cat-eye shaped frames in black acetate, they’re part of the new Prada Cinéma eyewear collection which presents a new feminine style for SS16.

If you love a classic look with a hint of Hollywood glamour, these chic signature shades are the perfect accessory for Spring/Summer 2016.

Timeless Tortoiseshell Glasses

Last but not least, the campaign featured a perfect example of Prada’s amazing prescription eyewear. Channeling ‘classic elegance’ these designer specs feature a wider profile for a slightly over-sized geek-chic look that’s so on trend. We love the timeless tortoiseshell finish which adds a wild touch to a simple style.

So, what do you think of Prada’s much-anticipated SS16 eyewear campaign? If you love their new collection as much as we do, watch out for these styles (and more) hitting SelectSpecs soon!
