Your Vision Type

Fashion Use

Fashion / Non prescription

These frames can be purchased without prescription lenses, simply select the Frame Only or Plano choice.

Frame only - Your glasses will come with the manufacturers plastic demo lenses. This item will be shipped without prescription or Plano lenses.

Plano (Fashion Lenses) - We will fit this frame with blank Plano lenses (Non-Prescription). These will be suitable for fashion use for those people without a prescription.

Single Vision Use

Single Vision Use

Single vision lenses can be used for seeing things at a distance, viewing your computer screen or just reading up close. These lenses will just contain one correction over the whole lens area hence the name Single Vision.

Reading - Choose the Reading option if you are going to be using your glasses for Reading or any activity that is within your arms reach.

Intermediate - Choose the Intermediate option if you are going to be using your glasses for Computer work. Intermediate ADD or a specific intermediate prescription will be required.

Distance - Choose the Distance option if you are going to be using your glasses for Driving or any other general use including watching TV.

Bifocals

Bifocals

These lenses contain two prescriptions, the upper part of the lens is generally used for distance vision, while the lower part is used for near vision. Bifocals do have a visible dividing line between the upper and lower sections of the lens.

R28 Round segment Bifocal - The shape of the reading segment of the lens is in the shape of a circle which is 28mm in diameter. Ideal for prescriptions with positive figures.

D28 Flat Top Bifocal - These lenses are in the shape of the letter D with its flat side uppermost. The reading segment has a flat top and a curved bottom. These are the most common type of bifocal, they are extremely successful as the reading area is very stable.

D35 Flat Top Bifocal - These lenses are in the shape of the letter D with its flat side uppermost. The reading segment has a flat top and a curved bottom. These lenses have a larger reading segment compared with the D28 bifocals, they are extremely successful as the reading area is very stable.

Varifocals

Varifocals / Progressives

Progressive or Varifocal lenses provide a smooth progression from distance correction to near correction. This eliminates segment lines, and also gives a third area of the lens. This intermediate vision area allows for clear vision at arms distance.

Standard - Ideal for new and familiar progressive lens wearers, this traditional design offers a wide distance zone for natural eye movement, coupled with a smooth progression to near vision. This lens design has medium peripheral distortion yet it relatively easy to adapt to.

Premium (Freeform / Rear Surface) - This optimum design provides tremendous clarity from distance through to near with minimal soft focus and incredible fast adaptation. Freeform, or direct, surfacing makes it possible to grind the front, back, or both sides of a lens as needed to produce sophisticated tailored lens designs.

Elite (Freeform / Rear Surface) - This elite design offers optimised digital Ray-Path* technology with balanced power distribution between distance and near vision areas for enhanced vision across the whole lens including computer and office activities.

The technology on these lenses is a big leap forward even on the freeform progressives we currently offer, and therefore is the lens of choice for those considering a varifocal lens.

*Digital Ray-Path is a patented state-of-the-art technology based on an accurate simulation of the eye lens model. Lenses can have prism, pantoscopic tilt, wrapping angle, any frame shape, and can be located at any distance from the eye. Digital Ray-Path will manage back and front surfaces, not just spherical, torical or standard aspherical or atorical surfaces. For every lens design, each gaze direction is simulated at the distance it will be focusing in the real world.

Rays will come from any point of the object space into the retina of the eye. Skew rays are possible, and finite size pupils are considered. Finally, image quality is computed by means of an imaging model taking into account eye and lens characteristics.

In summary this unique calculation method studies all the variables which may have some effect on ƒthe overall vision quality. Due to this accurate calculation the final lens provides the optimum power that the wearer needs in every gaze direction. This type of designs represents the highest optical quality and advanced technology on the market.

Ideal for all frame types.

Recommended for:
- Prescriptions with Sphere values above +/- 4.25*

*With any plus powers above +3.00, we recommend our 1.67, 1.74 or 1.74 lenses because these lenses are Aspheric in design, this means the lenses are made not only thinner but flatter than a standard spherical lens, this reduces magnification of your eyes to anyone who looks at you, and of course the lenses are lighter as a result.

How thin is this lens?
This lens is up to 30% thinner than a standard 1.50 index lens.

Both front and rear surfaces of the lenses are concave and aspheric in design, this gives flatter curves to reduce the edge thickness by approximately 35%. These are not suitable for frames that have a high base curve, such as sunglasses.

Recommended for:
