Spring 2017 Runway Trends

From New York to Milan, London to Paris, the world’s top models strutted the runway last month showcasing some of the most vibrant and elegant displays that style has to offer this Spring. The world’s top designers exhibited their work, each brand adding their own unique je ne sais quoi to their extravagant designs, leaving spectators in awe and unable to wait until they sprint their way from the runway to the high-street.

While some brands adopted a subtle and stylish approach to the runway, embodying the mellowness and warmth of the arrival of Spring, others did the exact opposite and reminded us of what we love so much about the runway: the extravagance and boldness of designers from across the world.

Tommy Hilfiger truly epitomized and brought to life the essence of Spring.

They exhibited their collection on the likes of supermodel Gigi Hadid, who had heads turning in a flimsy, yet elegant strapless dress, laden with decorative, delicate patchwork designs.

The simplicity of the dress draws attention to any jewelry and accessories worn. For Spring, a classic pair of Ray-Ban style sunglasses complement the elegance and style of this flowy piece.

We recommend these classic elegant frames for a beautifully simple dress.

Bright & Bold

Adopting a different interpretation of Spring entirely, Balenciaga succeeded in standing out from the crowd with daring designs bound to captivate their audience.

They made traditional floral prints their own by showcasing one of their models, Radhika Nair, head to toe in an eye-catching dress full of bright orange, pink and green floral print, juxtaposed on a striking black background.

Many of their designs didn’t include prints at all, the simplicity of the exuberant neon colors being enough to give the audience a taste of Spring.

The great thing about such simple outfits with bold colors is that accessorizing them is effortless; a pair of vintage hippie-style sunglasses make you feel like you should be at Woodstock.

Try these edgy rounded frames, they stand out perfectly against bold colors.

Style that Stole the Show

The look that stole the show was from top designer brand Gucci, who left us feeling as though we had been transported back to a disco in the seventies, filling their show with sequins, sparkles and all things scintillating.

One model walked the runway dressed in a beautiful, flowing skirt laden with floral patterns in royal blues, golds and oranges. It appeared that while Gucci tried to fit in as much as they possibly could in one design, they pulled it off with elegance.

For the show I wanted to express my obsessions, the flowers, the romanticism, the prints and color – Alessandro Michele

For Fashion Week 2017, his aim was undoubtedly achieved – it was impossible to look away during this exhilarating display. Gucci did not hold back in bringing an avant-garde aspect to Fashion Week that hasn’t been seen elsewhere.

The sequins and sparkles displayed all over these garments mean that you don’t have to hold back when it comes to jewelry either; it can be as subtle or as outlandish as you want – or a mixture of the two. Either way, this disco-diva outfit will have heads spinning.

These chic black frames (below) mixed with lustrous gems on the outer corners really can be worn on just about any occasion.

Spring Fashion Week 2017 was not merely a portrayal of clothing on models, it was a breath-taking performance of style, innovation and of self-expression, showing that fashion is limitless and without boundaries.
I, for one, cannot wait until these brilliant designs are adapted and brought to the high-street. Spring can’t come quick enough!
