Styling Scarves and Glasses this Winter!

“‘Tis the season to be well wrapped up in scarves and gloves!” don’t you think? With Christmas just around the corner, we are all busy bustling around from place to place, gathering last minute gifts, planning meals with family, getting a little too tipsy with colleagues, and singing along to all of the terrible Christmas carols.

Personally, winter is my favourite season – maybe it’s because I was born in February, or maybe it’s because I absolutely love winter fashion. There’s nothing better, in my humble opinion, than getting layed up in a cosy top, fluffy jumper, scarf, gloves and boots, and venturing outside into the crisp winter cold. Whether it’s a nip to the local shop (or bar), or a long winter walk, these wardrobe staples are essential this season.

When you are a glasses wearer, the introduction of scarves, similar to my post about headscarves in the summer, can help you to create a number of new and unique styles and looks for different social occasions be that a walk on Christmas Day morning, or heading out to your works ‘do.’

I called on some of you lovely people who have bought glasses through Select Specs to share with us your best glasses and scarves selfies, and boy you did not disappoint! I’ve selected some of my favourites as well as some other great glasses and scarf combinations currently trending on Instagram, and linked the glasses that each lovely person is wearing so you can indulge yourself in a last minute Christmas gift!

The beautiful Rhiannon from @team_armstrong_ looks flawless in this lovely wintery selfie in which she has paired a full rim black pair of Infinity 69 glasses with a red, white and blue tartan scarf and a pink lip. We love the fact that it is snowing in this picture which gives it a real whimsical, wintery finish. Thank you Rhiannon for sharing this picture with us!

The Infinity 69 glasses are still available on the Select Specs website and are just £30 right now including single vision lenses and coatings.

In this lovely shot, one of our own Select Specs team members has shared a shot of her glasses with another tartan style scarf. Rachel has chosen a really thick rimmed black havana style of frame which perfectly complements the bold colours of the scarf as well as her dark hair. She also proves that you don’t need to be outside in the cold to wear a scarf and that it can be used as a general piece of clothing and not just as a piece of outer wear.

If you want to emulate this style then you can find our Chiara Visione UCV1001 frames on the Select Specs website for £60 including single vision lenses and coatings. A slightly more expensive pair, but certainly very versatile and a pair of glasses that you could pair with almost any outfit or scarf and look instantly chic!

Whilst tartan scarves really seem to be a theme this year, we’re loving seeing all of the different glasses combinations that you lovely people are putting together with your tartan scarves. In this picture Martha is styling a pair of thin, round framed spectacles which give the whole look a very hipster, modern feel.

The Select Specs Infinity M8201 frames are the perfect dupe for the ones that Martha is wearing in the picture above. They are almost identical in their style and size, and at only £15 including single vision lenses and coatings, they’re the perfect pair of glasses to purchase and wear on the days when you want a more studious, on trend look.

This shot of Markus from @dr_optixx is ultimate gentleman chic! We love the combination of the full rim, tortoiseshell glasses with a black and white herringbone patterened scarf. It is a very formal look, but we think this would be a great style for winter officewear and will ensure you look chic and stylish on any cold, winters commute!

If you want to steal Markus’s style, then we highly recommend the Ted Baker London TB8197 glasses which have the same style as the ones in his pitcure above. They feature half brown, half clear frames and have a similar shape. They’re a tad more expensive than the other options in this article at £160 including single vision lenses and coatings, but as it’s Christmas, we think you deserve to spoil yourself a little!
