Styling Bohemian Menswear in 2017

You don’t have to go full-blown Jack Sparrow to achieve the bohemian look.

And, with earthy tones coming to the high street this summer, you don’t have to be shouting from the rooftops with bright designs often associated with this expressive, artistic style.

So, don’t worry – we’ve got your back or, rather, know what to put on it – like this suede jacket for example.

Italian blogger Fabio Attanasio casually pairs his with denim jeans and a navy jumper. With relaxed vintage vibes, it fits well with a bohemian theme without looking OTT.

As ‘stone’ is currently a popular colour this season, you could try a jacket in this shade, too – its versatility would co-ordinate well with different outfits.

Stripes are also piping up this spring/summer and would be a great way to add a bit of ‘movement’ to your look. These relaxed trousers from Tiger of Sweden display stripes of varying widths and the loose-fitting shape creates a ‘flow’ to the outfit.

Or if that isn’t your thing, stick to denim but lighten it up. Try them in a straight-leg, rather than a skinny, and roll up the ends like they do here.

With the bohemian style typically laid-back, you could also go with ripped or faded jeans, depending on your preference.

With these, try on a pair of lace-up boots. These Dr Martens, for example, would go great with a pair of faded jeans.

If not, then opt for something more artisanal; the bohemian style is typically earthy and, back in the day, some may have chosen to go barefoot. So, pick up a pair of loafers or sandals and rock the boho look.

A scarf won’t go amiss if the weather isn’t up to scratch. You could use this as an opportunity to add a print into your look – try floral, for example.

If you’re unsure, you could wrap a scarf once or twice around your neck or let it drape down the front. Either way, this accessory would ensure you’d pick up an edgy feel to your style.

Another way to accessorize is to stack up the jewelry. No, I’m not talking sparkly earrings or diamond bracelets, but pairing beaded necklaces with a fedora hat can look really effective. Stick to leathers or suedes and natural colours.

And what’s a summer look without the sunnies? Along with the hat and other accessories, you don’t want to overcrowd your look.

Rule #1: don’t go for something oversized. Both Fabio Attanasio and the Topman model sport circular lenses which are perfect for the bohemian theme.

Again, stick to colours such as brown or grey as you wouldn’t want to distract away from the rest of your outfit too much.

These Ray-Bans, therefore, would fit the bill rather well; the frames are thin and light and would suit those with a more angular face shape. The matte gold arms and nose bridge look sophisticated, making them a versatile pair of shades.

If you don’t want to combine all of these features together, you don’t have to. Just pick a couple of things you want to try out and involve them into your everyday, weekend look.
