Fashion Inspo: Eva Green In Casino Royale

Eva Green as Vesper Lynd
Eva Green

The 2006 action movie Casino Royale featured Eva Green playing the role of a never-before-seen Bond Girl named Vesper Lynd. It was the first Bond film to use ideas from the novel written by Ian Fleming.

The film is a visual treat filled with parkour-influenced chases, high-end fashion, high-flyers, cool gadgets, and modern-style rapid fight sequences, making it the coolest Bond movie of the modern era.

Costumes play a role in defining the character, and this is just what Eva Green showed us, by transforming herself into a Bond Girl effortlessly!

We just love the way the actress redefines the typical Bond Girl, by portraying the extremely smart, passionate, independent, and drop-dead gorgeous Vesper Lynd. She speaks her mind and is never afraid to say no – our kind of character!

Eva’s style in this film was effortlessly classy, feminine, and sexy – perfect for the mysterious character who embodies perfectly the femme fatale role.

With her timeless outfits ranging from the black trouser suit to the Roberto Cavalli backless purple dress, and the black Versace gown to the striking marinière top and red wrap dress, it’s certain that Vesper Lynd is the ultimate fashion queen.

So, read on for some of the best Eva Green looks from this globally popular James Bond film. We’ve also added a variety of matching SelectSpecs frames to help you steal Eva’s style!

A Chance Encounter

Vesper Lynd’s first meeting with James Bond happens on a train bound for Montenegro, where a tournament was to be conducted at the Casino Royale.

With pulled back hair, minimal makeup, natural lip colouring, and very light eye-shadow, Vesper suddenly enters the scene dressed in a heavy fabric black suit which symbolizes her power. This choice of wardrobe is what sets apart Vesper from other Bond girls, and it helps to conceal her identity and mission in the film.

We love Vesper’s slim-cut black colored suit jacket paired perfectly with long matching trousers, and a thick leather belt. She also brings a black leather handbag, and finishes off the look with an elegant Algerian love-knot necklace. A completely different style for a Bond Girl!

Pretty In Purple

This happens to be our favourite Eva Green look from the movie. The dark purple evening gown looks great on the actress!

Vesper sports this beautiful backless gown when she first makes her entrance  into the poker game, thereby creating a much needed distraction.

In the film, it was Bond who chose the aubergine Roberto Cavalli gown with a bias-cut, low open-back, and a plunging neckline in front featuring crystal/beaded detailing. The same love-knot necklace can be seen sported by Vesper throughout the film.

We just love the beautiful embellishment and silver jewels featured in the front v-cut portion of the attire. Not to mention the low-cut back, halter style top, long drapes, and the cute purple silk scarf.

Bold Blacks

On the second day of the poker game, Vesper can be seen sporting a beautiful black Versace evening gown.

The lovely dress comes with wide straps that form a complex cross-pattern in the open back, and a low sweetheart neckline for extra glamour.

With the beautiful black gown, elaborate chignon hair, dramatic makeup, large earrings and elegant necklace, Eva totally nails the Bond Girl look in her signature style.

Evergreen Eva

Casino Royale portrays both modern as well as vintage fashion, and the green ensemble shown above is a great example of this.

Wearing an earthy green dress with an attractive cut in the front, Eva draws upon the timeless 1950’s for her style inspiration here.

The high neckline of the outfit covers half of the necklace, and the cute matching earrings add the final touches to a gorgeous, natural look.

Striped Style

Eva Green looks as fabulous as ever, cruising on a 54-footer Spirit yacht named Soufrière, aka the 007 yacht!

Built for the movie scene where Vesper ventures on a romantic tour of Venice with Bond, this luxurious vessel is the perfect backdrop.

We love Eva’s nautical top with white and navy stripes paired with matching navy Bermuda shorts.

A nautical sweater with marinière stripes is a must for every knitwear edit, and we’re obsessed by this trans-seasonal navy-white option from the star.

To finish off the look, Eva styles the marinière top with a pair of stylish Versace sunglasses.

Vintage Red

Vesper can be seen putting on a red wrap dress when we head towards the climax of the film. This striking colour adds a vibrant shift in style, as it is very different from the earthy toned outfits sported by her in previous scenes.

As shown in the picture above, the ensemble is a simple knee-length wrap dress with a thin belt, and wrapped into a modest V-neck in the front. Vesper takes off the special necklace that she wears throughout the film, telling Bond that it is time to move on.

We get to see a vintage red combo when the wrap dress is perfectly accessorized with black sandals, and a graphic tote bag with a red cardigan tossed over. It’s a striking look, thanks to Eva’s pale complexion, red lip and gorgeous black hair.
