At only 19 years old, British singer/songwriter RAYE is already carving a name for herself in the pop music world. Recently featuring on Jonas Blue’s Top 15 hit By Your Side and Jax Jones’s earworm You Don’t Know Me.
RAYE released her solo venture The Line last month, proving herself a force to be reckoned with and living up to her #3 spot on the acclaimed BBC Music Sound Of award.
And with a style as big and bright as her music, RAYE is a name to watch in more ways than one.
Her bold fashion sense sits somewhere between the athletic 90s and the colourful couture of her Ghanaian heritage – an amazing hybrid if every we’ve seen one.
Join us as we look at RAYE’s unique looks, and how you can steal her style.
RAYE rocks the pink in the above shot for BBC Radio 1’s Big Weekend.
With an oversized pastel sweater, skinny cropped denim shorts, and a pair of chunky-heeled nude boots, the singer throws typical fashion conventions out the window.
The real show-stopper here, however, is her beautiful statement duster jacket.
Bold, brash and oozing with colour, the gorgeous garment sums up both RAYE’s music and style, and we absolutely adore it.
The look is completed with a cool pair of curved rectangular shades, very reminiscent of the 90s in their styling.
Try the Maui Jim Baby Beach to steal RAYE’s style, and channel the era yourself:
90s kid RAYE pays homage to the era in the above shot.
Channeling a slick activewear aesthetic, her camo vest works perfectly with the Adidas running shorts to create an on point, off-duty athletic look.
We’re loving RAYE’s oversized gold hoops here – a simple addition that transforms the look from gym-ready to club-ready in a flash!
Could we be any more in love with RAYE’s shirt dress and matching bag here?
The open collar and 3/4 length sleeves means it’s a cool and breathable option in the warm weather, while the cross-body mini tote makes for the perfect statement accessory.
The bag’s black trims make the yellow pop, and create the illusion that it’s been taken straight from a cartoon – fitting for RAYE’s very comic book-esque dress.
We’re pretty sure that a red-checkered shirt paired with orange high waisted trousers shouldn’t work, and yet we’re absolutely digging this comfy/casual look from RAYE.
Teamed with grey embellished high top sneakers and a staple mid-blue denim jacket, the bold dressed-down look embodies everything we love about London street fashion – gutsy, experimental and unapologetic.
Did someone say double-denim? RAYE proudly breaks the mold of the biggest fashion faux pas in the book, proving rules are only there to be broken.
Her high-fashion shoot features distressed denim separates, looking gorgeous in ripped jeans and matching mid-blue jacket.
Her gravity-defying frizzy perm is giving us serious hair envy, while the soft pinks of her eye shadow draw out the colours of the falling florals around her.
We’re loving the splatters that feature over her jeans, too – a welcome pop of colour that could almost be crushed petals, rather than flicks of paint.
