Ever since Alessandro Michele was appointed creative director of the high end label in 2015, Gucci’s creations and overall image have considerably taken a rather unconventional leap. While keeping the original aesthetic, such as Gucci’s much-loved logo, Alessandro has successfully blurred the lines of traditional and contemporary.
As a result, these contrasts are surprisingly interesting to look at. So, we must say – keeping the new Gucci eyewear film in mind – we’re absolutely loving it.
Alessandro Michele’s Style
Known for his pleasantly flamboyant sense of style, the Italian fashion designer and businessman has previously worked alongside the likes of Fendi and Tom Ford.
Managing to charm a variety of other fashion professionals around the globe, he’s deemed a designer who is extremely innovative and likes to think outside the box. After all, The British Fashion Awards had named him International Designer of The Year.
Much like his personal taste of eclectic suits, bow ties and wide fedoras teamed with his mid-length locks and thick beard; Alessandro’s takeover of the much-beloved brand makes for picturesque visions that no fashion enthusiast can resist to snap and share on social media.
Think clashing prints, textures and a variety of eye-catching bright hues. The vision has statement style written all over it.
Filmed by 24 year-old Canadian Petra Collins who’s currently based in New York, you’ll also find her modelling as one of the faces of the brand, previously seen on the runway one of their fashion shows.
Proclaimed as one of New York’s It girls, she can now add high fashion model to her list of achievements as well as making a name for herself in the world of fashion photography, art and design.

The clip has an ultra-nostalgic feel to it, set in Petra’s grandmother’s apartment.

A video worthy of causing a digital frenzy on Instagram, it features key designs from the new lust-worthy eyewear collection which we would all like to hunt down and purchase by any means necessary.
Keeping in tune with the overall look of the brand, there are bright splashes of colour throughout the video.
You’ll find stylish vintage-like clothing adorned with an array of feminine frills, disco-worthy sequins and – referencing the label’s current signature look- clashing prints from polka dots to wallpaper floral prints your gran would take a shine to.
