Since the event began in 1981, the event has well and truly gone from strength to strength.

More and more people are taking up the challenge of running the marathon every year.

Some are known to take the run seriously, whereas others are purely there to get dressed up and have a right old laugh!

This year’s marathon was held on Sunday 22nd April 2018 in the city.

Many people opted to run in the event for charities or just for personal achievement.

Simple And Sleek

British athlete Mo Farah took part in the London Marathon this year.

The superstar managed to come third in the race overall, which is a spectacular achievement!

For his challenging run, Mo opted to wear a bold yet breathable look for the day’s festivities.

A coral coloured Nike vest top was worn with a pair of blue shorts for a bright look.

Matching trainers, neon yellow armbands and a pair of simple specs finished things off well.

This lady is clearly relieved to have finished her marathon stint.

She sported a breathable ensemble with a feminine twist.

Her colourful accessories also help to bring the look together.

However, the main focus of the outfit are these delightful holographic shades – so pretty!

‘2018 London Marathon Race Recap’ • • Part 3/4….. Through the half way point in 78 minutes and I was still on track, but suffering as every mile past. At this point I was dousing myself with water at every opportunity as I couldn’t take it on and so this was the best way to keep cool! Around the 16 mile mark I had to make a quick stop again… a bit more weight shed… 4 gels down the hatch so far but it felt like they had just gone straight through me! Having never experienced this before I couldn’t work out why it was happening too me. The mental battle continued! 🤦🏼‍♂️🤯 • • Even with all of the problems I was experiencing, the GI issues, sore legs and overwhelming heat, the spirit and support of the crowds were getting me through, and also knowing how many people were tracking me at home! Approaching the 20 mile mark, I knew in the back of my head that I wasn’t going to achieve my goal time, so now it was all about completing the race I had wanted to do for so long and trying to make the most of every moment I was out on course! Although this was a little tricky when all I could think about was going to the toilet again! 😂🙈 • • #londonmarathon #londonmarathon2018 #marathontraining #halfmarathontraining #10ktraining #c210k #c25k #asicsfrontrunner #asicsfrontrunneruk #asics #imoveme #run #running #runner #runrunrun #runtoinspire #runnerscommunity #runnersofinstagram #runnersofig #instarun #instafit #runningmorivation #triathlon #triathlete #triathlontraining #humpday

Pretty In Purple

@traineronthehillI know it’s less than a fortnight, but #tbt to a day where I came the closest I’ve ever come to quitting. Everything seemed against me at mile 15, the heat probably being the toughest challenge ☀️ .  A few things that kept me going were- ✅ The crowds – you don’t understand how much it means until you’ve been on the other side 🏃🏼‍♀️ ✅ An article I read in @runnersworldmag about how smiling through pain actually tricks your brain into enjoying it (really works!) 😀 ✅ The thought of failure 😞 ✅ Seeing @thebodycoach who cheered me on (thank you!) you actually really boosted me for a bit . BUT most importantly not seeing my baby boy who had missed me twice & was waiting at the finish line cheering me on with his inflatable rubber ring, if I quit what would I tell him? The thought of having to tell him that Mummy gave up kept my heart in it the run when every ounce of me wanted to quit. I’m so glad I didn’t. . Thank you Son 💙💙💙💙 . And yes my shorts are dripping wet 🤪🤪
