Mabel: Steal Her Style

Mabel McVey may not have even released her debut album yet, but that hasn’t stopped her making waves across the music scene. Known better simply as Mabel, it’s time you got acquainted with the rising singer/songwriter.

Daughter of singer Neneh Cherry and Massive Attack record producer Cameron McVey, Mabel has musical royalty running through her veins. With the release of her killer 2015 debut single Know Me Better, it was clear the singer was a bona fide star in the making. Fast-forward 2 years, and the singer has released her first extended play Bedroom, a precursor to what is certain to be a stellar debut album, if the 4-track EP is anything to go by.

Not only a skillful songwriter, Mabel has a style to kill for, and has a penchant for show-stopping statement shades.

Join us as we look at the rising star’s recent fashion highlights, and how you can steal her style!

Mabel is giving us crazy 90s vibes in the above shot, and we’re loving it! Sporting a black PVC mac and matching PVC cuffed trousers, we’re getting serious Matrix feels from Mabel’s dark and moody ensemble.

The one pop of colour to be found in the entire outfit comes in from the singer’s equally 90s round shades. The amber tinted lenses, set in a simple gold frame, are bang in line with the retro throwback trend which has seen oval shades making a serious comeback!

Off-duty just became seriously on trend. Comfort doesn’t have to come at the expense of style, as Mabel prove in the gorgeous shot above. Adorning a loose navy floral vest paired with relaxed tracksuit bottoms (how much are we loving that popper detail up the leg?), the singer lifts the look with a pop of raspberry pink from her bag, and a pair of statement square shades.

It’s a great example of accessories transforming a look, and transforming the entire feel. We can’t get enough of Mabel’s oversized frames – a welcome touch of luxe to an otherwise relaxed outfit.

Mabel goes high fashion in the above shot, taken behind-the-scenes at this year’s British Summertime festival at Hyde Park. Wearing black faux fur, woven choker and signature ‘Mabel’ necklace, it’s undeniably the accessories that take centre stage here, not least of all the angular rose-tinted shades.

We love the futuristic take on the cat-eye frames, modernising a classic look with bold styling and a fun, playful statement. You can depend on Miu Miu to give shades a contemporary twist, and we think the Miu Miu MU 52SS is a great example of this! A new interpretation of a familiar and recognisable shape – a sure-fire winner!

We’re loving the shot of Mabel here, celebrating the launch party for her Bedroom EP. Wearing a pink belted playsuit and strappy embellished heels, Mabel completes the gorgeous tonal look with another pair of killer statement shades.

The oversized rosy frames are once again giving us crazy 90s vibes, and we couldn’t love them more! Grab the Kate Spade LAMONICA/S for your own dose of a decade gone by!

Moving from the 90s to the early 00s, Mabel throws it back once again with a khaki vest, camouflage combat trousers, large silver hoops and a fresh pair of Adidas trainers.

The off-duty look is perfected with an oversized pair of rounded rectangular frames. We’re loving the Ray-Ban RB4101 – Jackie Ohh – the perfect shades to steal Mabel’s style!
