Modeling Career
Her entry into the modeling world wasn’t deliberate.
Taking a break from schooling in Australia, Elle headed to the US to earn money before starting her Law degree.
She studied law for a short time at the University of Sydney.
As a longtime ambassador of luxury French skincare company Biotherm, and after numerous front cover features in fashion magazines, she was able to raise her profile one shoot at a time.
A hot topic at Sports Illustrated, Elle appeared on the pages of their Swimsuit Issues five times, from 1986-1988, 1994, and 2006.
She walked the runways for many high profile designers such as Louis Vuitton, and Ralph Lauren.
Elle appeared in a multitude of advertising campaigns for companies like Christian Dior and Escada.
Also featured in the Victoria’s Secret catalogue, she was invited to become part of the new generation of supermodels.
The twin island country of Antigua and Barbuda honored the model by using her face on a series of postage stamps.

Savvy Business Woman
While her fellow supermodels were happy to stay under the guardianship of a modeling agency, Elle took one step ahead.
She left Ford Models and set up a company called Elle Macpherson Inc.
Her newfound independence as a business woman allowed her to produce a series of calendars and workout videos.
Launching Elle Macpherson Intimates, the collection was an instant success.
The lingerie became best sellers in Great Britain and Australia.
Also a co-founder of WelleCo: a wellness company selling alkalizing supplements.

Work & Family
Elle dabbled in acting with a series of roles in films such as Woody Allen’s Alice, Batman & Robin and The Edge.
Also making an appearance on one episode of Saturday Night Live.
For two reality TV show series, Britain & Ireland’s Next Top Model, and Fashion Star, Elle was the executive producer and host of both shows.
Ms. MacPherson is an ambassador for RED, UNICEF, the Smile Foundation and the National Association for Children of Alcoholics.
She has two sons (Arpad Flynn Busson and Aurelius Cy Andrea Busson) with her former partner Arpad Busson.
Elle later married hotel heir and billionaire Jeffrey Soffer.
Apart from English, Elle is fluent in French and can hold conversations in Italian and Spanish.
