Tennis

Tennis is a great way to keep fit, as it uses nearly every muscle in the body.

Playing just twice a week has been found to improve coordination and bone density too, so dust off those tennis whites pronto!

Swimming

At the end of a long, hot day in the office, what could be more relaxing than taking a dip in the pool?

Swimming is a fab workout for those new to exercise as it’s low impact, but plenty of fun.

If you’re looking for more reasons to give it a go, it also boosts your mood, strengthens your muscles and improves your sleep.

Go with your mates and enjoy a pampering session in the sauna afterwards for a relaxing way to spend a summer’s evening.

For more adventurous types, outdoor swimming is fastly becoming a new fitness trend.

Some studies have shown that cooler waters can help people with anxiety and depression, so why not head to your nearest lido for an instant mood boost?

If you’re really getting back to nature and fancy open water swimming, be sure to do your research to find safe spots and join a group so you can get support and advice from seasoned pros.

Remember, swimming on holiday counts too, so don’t worry if you just fancy a paddle this summer.

Hiking

If you like a work out that doesn’t feel like a chore, hiking might just be for you.

A fantastic way of exploring your local surroundings, and with all the breathtaking views, it’s easy to forget that you’re doing some serious training.

Great for getting all the family involved too, or a fun alternative to a girly weekend away.

First backpacking trip of the season… and these views did not disappoint. I, @Im_NicoleMarie am just getting back from two days here, in the Sierras hiking up to and camping at 10K feet. The views from beginning to end were spectacular. Many of you have been asking recently, “what’s in your bag” and I have written about a few of my go to gear and products for the outdoors and travel. You can visit our website and read the latest blog to learn all about them. Included in the write up is a reminder about the 10 Essentials. These are categories of must have products that you should have on you when you are hiking, no matter where and for how long. They include: 1. Navigation 2. Sun protection 3. Insulation 4. Illumination 5. First-aid supplies 6. Fire 7. Repair kit and/or tools 8. Nutrition 9. Hydration 10. Emergency shelter These things together will undoubtedly give you peace of mind and necessary, reliable safety if you should ever happen to find yourself in an unexpected and/or dangerous situation. Undoubtedly, there have been times where I have been on the trail without all 10 of the above items. But I have now packed them away in a ready to go bag in my vehicle for when I hit the trail. Summer is the season of outdoor, hiking, backpacking and camping adventures and we, @womenwhohike want you to not only enjoy the outdoors but to also go out with knowledge. Because being knowledgable is being empowered. We can’t wait to see all that you have planned this summer… use our hashtag #womenwhohike so we can follow along with all of your hiking adventures! . 📷: @heyguystudios
