Curved Frames / Oversized Lenses

While we make every effort to ensure all reglaze orders are completed, there are occasions where we're unable to complete the reglaze due to damage, brittle frames or a frame design that is not suitable for new lenses to be fitted successfully. In these cases we will contact you to advise you and return your frame and offer a refund. Unfortunately, we cannot refund postage fees.
If you feel your frames may not be suitable for reglaze or would like advice, please contact us (include a picture of the frame if possible) and we'll be happy to assist you before you place your order.
Unfortunately, due to the complexity of these frames, we're unable to provide a reglaze service for this brand.

I've been used to wearing Oakley sunglasses especially for cycling and walking in the Alps for at least 15 years. Eventually, though, the need for prescription lenses became unavoidable. I looked at all the options including inserts for Oakley wrap around frames and dismissed them on the basis of appearance, cost or both. Having been pleased with Selectspecs products previously I pushed the boat out (for me) and spent £130 on these frames with high impact poly-carbonate and transition lenses. What a revelation! They have so far been worn for 10 days cycling in Belgium and 17 days walking in the mountains of Austria, virtually all of it in sunshine. Comfortable isn't the word: I haven't been aware that I was wearing them most of the time. The fit is perfect and they don't slip. Not quite as wrap around as my Oakleys but OK. Add to all of that the fact that I now have perfect vision again (and they are actually quite stylish)and I couldn't be more pleased.

I have been asked to provide a review, so here goes. I have been using SelectSpecs for at least 5 years, and have generally been very pleased with the service - it takes a while to get the glasses but this is perhaps to be expected given the nature of the business.
I recently sent some new frames purchased elsewhere for a reglaze. I asked for exactly the same prescription as a pair previously supplied by SelectSpecs (these are metal-framed and I now prefer plastic). I wanted the same lens prescription because I use these every day in my office job and get on with them quite well.
Unfortunately, the first reglaze was not a success - as soon as I wore the glasses they made my eyes uncomfortable, and after persisting for several days I found I also felt nauseous/light-headed. I contacted SelectSpecs and after a little persuading they checked the prescription and admitted they had made a mistake (with the astigmatism part I suspect).
After trying to get on with the second reglaze for a couple of weeks, I find I have the same problem and have had to revert to my old glasses. I think my only option now is to go to a high street optician and pay through the nose, but hopefully I will get some glasses that I can finally get along with.
