Reflected light & glare
Vertical light is useful for us as it helps us see true colours and contrasts, but on a bright or sunny day, light from the sun normally reflects from smooth or shiny surfaces such as roads, water, sand or snow, and becomes horizontally polarised as it travels in various directions.
This horizontal light is known as glare. Glare can cause various levels of discomfort depending on the concentration of light which often makes it uncomfortable to drive, cycle, or continue with your outdoor activity without appropriate sunglasses.
Polarised lenses - How they work
Put simply, these lenses work to block reflected light and glare from reaching your eye which ensures optimum comfort while driving in sunny conditions or pursuing your favourite hobbies.
While normal tinted lenses generally offer 100% UV protection and make things look darker, polarised lenses offer another level of protection and block virtually all glare.
Benefits of polarised sunglasses
In both summer and winter, wearers can discover the pleasure of better vision under all circumstances, with colours appearing more vibrant than with normal sunglass lenses, enhanced detail and reduced eye strain.
For driving: Polarising lenses offer increased safety. They eliminate the glare produced by reflections on wet road surfaces, dashboards and other cars.
For sports: Particularly useful for water sports (sailing and fishing in particular) and winter sports, whenever the eyes are under constant stress from the sunlight reflected by flat surfaces (water, snow and ice).
Our polarised lenses
We offer 3 polarised colour options for your prescription sunglasses that are perfect for all activities.
Grey polarised lenses provide true colour perception, low colour distortion and minimised eye strain.
Brown polarised lenses enhance contrast, provide greater visual comfort and minimise eye strain.
Green polarised lenses maintain contrast in low light conditions, whilst delivering true colour perception and minimised eye strain.
